The epidemiological bulletin of Colombia, prematurity is the biggest cause of death between 2008 and 2018 with a higher risk of newborns under 1500 grams or intrauterine growth restriction. (14), it is important that nurses have a high level of knowledge regarding the method, which benefits the health status of an infant population by significantly helping to improve morbidity and mortality statistics and reduce costs in health institutions.Item Factores asociados a la morbilidad materna extrema reportados en Sivigila en la Ciudad de Palmira 2018(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Hernández García, Melissa; Ospina Méndez, Mayra Alejandra; Sanabria Leiva, Laura Melissa; Zafra Hernández, Sandra PatriciaThe World Health Organization (WHO) defines Extreme Maternal Morbidity as a state in which a woman almost dies, but survived a complication during pregnancy, childbirth or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy; which is an event of interest in public health that has an important impact when evaluating health services, so having timely and quality care can prevent a severe obstetric complication. The purpose of this research was to determine the factors associated with extreme maternal morbidity reported in SIVIGILA in the City of Palmira 2018. For this, the study population and unit of analysis are constituted by the mandatory notification form of SIVIGILA with event 549 that reports to pregnant women who presented Extreme Maternal Morbidity during the year 2018 in the municipality of Palmira. The data collection process was carried out through the systematic review of the mortality and morbidity log books sent to SIVIGILA by the health institutions of the municipality of Palmira in order to obtain information on all patients who have been typified as MME. Therefore, it was possible to determine the factors associated with extreme maternal morbidity reported in SIVIGILA in the City of Palmira 2018; which correspond to Factors: labor, economic and poor assistance to prenatal controls; As was identified as extreme maternal morbidity, it is observed more frequently in patients under 31 years of age.Item Percepción de los estudiantes de enfermería del modelo de bienestar universitario de una institución privada de educación superior en el año 2019.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Castro Rengifo, Estefania; Rosero Lozada, Nicole Celine; Vergara Duque, Nicolas; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Asesor)The purpose of the research was to determine the perception of nursing stu-dents of the university welfare model of a private higher education institution in 2019. The study was quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional and non-experimental. The unit of analysis were the students of the nursing program who are between the third and tenth semester. The sample, consisting of 168 students, was probabilistic through simple random sampling. The results showed that if there is socialization of the programs offered by university wel-fare but the students, due to schedule issues, they participate little of them, es-pecially of the sports groups. It was concluded that despite the low participation, the welfare area has a good image in nursing students.Item Modelos de formación por competencia, según el proceso enfermero basado en una revisión bibliográfica en los años 2014-2019: desde un enfoque integral de enfermería.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Orejuela Lopez, Betty Lineth; Zapata, Alexandra (Asesora)This qualitative literature review, conducted between 2014 and 2019, aimed to identify competency-based training models within the nursing process from a comprehensive care perspective. Thirty articles were selected from academic databases such as Scielo, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Google Scholar, Dialnet, and PubMed, based on specific inclusion criteria. The findings highlight that these models emphasize cognitive, technical, integrative, relational, moral, and affective dimensions. It was concluded that competency-based training responds to environmental demands while preserving the human essence of the nursing profession.Item Prevalencia y factores asociados al consumo de productos tabáquicos en adolescentes escolarizados de Candelaria Valle 2019.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2020) Ojeda, Juliana; Morales Galeano , Jennifer; Casaran, Manuel FelipeTobacco product consumption is a global public health issue affecting both men and women, with serious consequences for the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, cancer risk, and environmental health. A 2019 quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted in Candelaria, Valle, to determine the prevalence and associated factors of tobacco use—including cigarettes, water pipes (hookah), and electronic cigarettes—among secondary school adolescents aged 11 to 19 from three local schools. Most participants were 14 years old, and 61.6% were female. The prevalence of hookah use was 0.91%, mainly among students aged 11, 16, and 17. Notably, 16.4% believed tobacco use leads to weight loss, 46.12% had received information about tobacco in school subjects, and 49% reported receiving it in the year prior to the study. Additionally, 77.6% said their parents discussed tobacco-related topics with them. The study concludes that tobacco use among adolescents is shaped by a range of risk and predisposing factors, highlighting the need for deeper understanding of this social phenomenon through both empirical data and theoretical perspectives.Item Relación de alimentación y enfermedades cardiovasculares en habitantes del municipio de Palmira 2021-2022(2022) Martínez lozano, Daniela; Ruiz Estrada, Sol Jhohana; Suarez Cruz, Alexandra; Rivera Romero, Viviana (Directora)This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and cardiovascular diseases in residents aged 51 to 64 from the municipality of Palmira during 2021. It follows a quantitative, descriptive-correlational, and cross-sectional design, using simple random sampling. Sociodemographic characteristics, food consumption frequency, and cardiovascular risk were assessed through the Framingham questionnaire. A total of 121 participants completed the study, with a mean age of 56.12 years; 36.4% were men and 62% women. Most belonged to a middle socioeconomic level, with 34.7% earning between one and two minimum wages. Clinically, 43% were overweight, and 48% had grade I or II hypertension. Dietary patterns revealed excessive intake of flour-based products, legumes, dairy, miscellaneous items, and fats, with 100% showing inadequate fat consumption. Only 23.1% had an adequate nutritional status. The study identifies a correlation between the consumption of meats and legumes, body mass index, and systolic blood pressure, although the estimated 10-year cardiovascular event risk remains low at 1%.Item Percepciones de los estudiantes de grado 11 frente a la emisión de la Sentencia C_ 055 / 2022 en un colegio público y un privado de la ciudad de Palmira año 2022(2022) García Vasco, Yuliana Alejandra ; Silva Salamanca, Juliana María; Muñoz Gómez, Karen Tatiana; Pantoja Moreno, Jhon Jairo (Director)This research, conducted in 2022 in Palmira, aimed to understand the perceptions of 11th-grade students (ages 15-19) from both public and private schools regarding the C-055/2022 sentence. This ruling decriminalized abortion before the 24th week of pregnancy while maintaining the three established exceptions afterward. Using a 24-question survey, the study found that most students from both schools disagreed with jailing women who have abortions (67% and 68%, respectively). It also revealed that the male condom was the most recognized contraceptive method among the students (90% and 95%). The research concluded that the adolescents surveyed have a favorable attitude toward the sentence.Item Prevalencia del uso del cannabis en personas atendidas en servicios de salud. Using the PRISMA protocol and keywords such as “Cannabis,” “Marijuana Use,” “Medical Marijuana,” “Cannabinoids,” “Therapeutics,” and “Epidemiology,” the research explored databases including Scopus, PubMed, Cielo, Springer, Oxford, Science Direct, and Elsevier. The findings highlighted the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and therapeutic benefits of cannabis, demonstrating its clinical effectiveness in Colombia, Latin America, and globally. Despite its proven efficacy, access to medical cannabis remains limited within healthcare services, underscoring the need to promote its safe, ethical, and responsible use to ensure broader patient accessibility.Item Detección Temprana De Alteraciones De Salud Mental En Adolescentes Escolarizados De Un Colegio Público En El Municipio De Palmira.(2022) Villota Muñoz, Elisabet; Bedoya Lasprilla, Tatiana; Jojoa Rivera, Angie Vanessa; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)This study aimed to identify the risk factors for mental disorders among adolescents enrolled in a public school located in commune 2 of Palmira, Valle del Cauca. Surveys were conducted with 109 students aged 16 to 18, using a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, and non-experimental methodology, with a simple random sampling approach. The findings revealed that a significant portion of the students experience emotional symptoms such as nervousness, tension, boredom, difficulty thinking clearly, and challenges in decision-making, despite the absence of notable family history of mental illness. These emotional indicators represent potential risk factors for the development of mental disorders, highlighting the relevance of this issue for further research and preventive interventions within the educational setting.Item Detección temprana de alteraciones de salud mental en adolescentes escolarizados en un colegio privado de buenaventura en el año 2021.(2022) Rayo Murillo, Erika Mayerli; Valencia Mosquera, Jessica Alexandra; Andrade Arrollo, Jessica Julieth; Ramírez Jimenez, Rocio (Director)In 2021, a quantitative study was conducted in Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, to determine the risk of mental disorders in 64 adolescents aged 16 and 17 from a private school. The descriptive, cross-sectional research found that, in general, the adolescents had good mental health. However, the study identified specific cases that may indicate a risk of a mental health disorder or psychosis. The study highlights the crucial role of mental health prevention. It emphasizes the need for health professionals to be well-trained to educate young people, counteracting risk factors and strengthening protective factors throughout their lives. The research concludes that preventive interventions are vital to modify the processes that can lead to mental illness.Item Detección temprana de alteraciones en salud mental en adolescentes escolarizados en una institución educativa pública de la zona rural de Palmira en el año 2022(2022) Valderrama Salazar, Carolina; Caicedo, Dayan Angelica; Henao, Alexa Vivian; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)This research aims to identify the frequency of mental health disorders among adolescents enrolled in a rural school in the municipality of Palmira, Valle del Cauca. It is a quantitative and descriptive study conducted in 2022, using the SRQ questionnaire to gather data from the student population. The collected information is analyzed and presented through statistical tables and graphs. Results indicate that most students exhibit symptoms of psychological distress and psychotic tendencies, while a smaller proportion associate their behaviors with alcohol use. Studying these variables contributes significantly to the fields of psychology, medicine, behavioral therapy, and human behavior analysis, offering valuable insights for understanding and addressing mental health issues in adolescent populations.Item Detección temprana de alteraciones en salud mental en adolecentes escolarizados del Municipio de Palmira en una Institución Educativa pública de la comuna uno en el año 2021.(2022) Cuasmayan Orbes, Jéssika Esmeralda; Torres Culcha, Verónica; Roque Romero, Nayibe Andrea; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)The quantitative study, which was descriptive and cross-sectional, assessed the risk of mental disorders in 85 10th and 11th-grade students (aged 16 to 18) from an educational institution in Palmira, Valle. Although most of the young people did not show a high risk of mental disorders or psychological distress nor a family history, the research identified a small percentage who are at risk. Furthermore, it was found that more than 28% of participants reported symptoms of psychological distress, including frequent headaches, insomnia, difficulty making decisions, and loss of interest. The study concludes that, despite the low general risk, these symptoms deserve individualized attention to identify their causes, and emphasizes the importance of protecting and promoting the emotional well-being of adolescents given their inherent vulnerability to age-related changes.Item Detección temprana de alteraciones de salud mental en adolescentes escolarizados en el municipio de Tumaco(2022) Godoy Ortiz, Juan David; Mantilla Riascos, Leisy Paola; Marquínez Grueso, Karen Johana; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)A quantitative study conducted with 130 high school students (aged 16 to 18) at the Institución Educativa Ciudadela Mixta Colombia in Tumaco, Nariño, sought to identify the risk of mental disorders among young people. The research revealed that 35% of the students have had suicidal thoughts. The study highlights several risk factors contributing to this situation, such as extreme poverty, domestic violence, history of mental disorders, substance abuse, the presence of armed groups, exposure to suicidal behavior in others, impulsive behavior, and recent losses. It is concluded that it is fundamental to address these psychological and behavioral disorders, always considering the individual characteristics and circumstances of each person.Item Cuidados y manejo de los pacientes con enfermedad de Von Willebrand. This study aims to determine the care and management of patients with VWD through a systematic review of scientific literature published between 2012 and 2022, consulting recognized databases such as Oxford, Springer, PubMed, and Scopus, among others. The research highlights recent advances in the treatment of this pathology and underscores the relevance of nursing care in the physical, psychological, and social approach to patients, both nationally and internationally.Item Consecuencias en la salud mental causadas por eventos traumáticos en menores de 15 años en Latino América según revisión sistemática de literatura entre los años 2018 y 2023(2024) Saa Riascos, Dalia Nicole; López García, Yurani Marcela; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)Mental health in children encompasses more than the absence of disorders; it involves coping with stress, developing skills, building positive relationships, and contributing to society. However, traumatic events beyond a child’s control can severely impact emotional well-being, leading to psychological disorders and psychosocial disabilities. To explore these effects, a systematic literature review was conducted between 2019 and 2023 using the PRISMA method, analyzing 1228 articles from national and international databases, of which 25 met the inclusion criteria. The findings reveal that violence and trauma can hinder cognitive development, impair social interactions, lower academic performance, and increase mortality risk. Recognizing a history of abuse is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, emphasizing the need for a compassionate, holistic approach that considers each child’s personal history.Item Conocimientos y actitudes sobre el uso medicinal del cannabis en los estudiantes de sexto a octavo semestre del programa de enfermería de una Universidad privada de Palmira en el año 2023.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Gil Aguirre, Keara;; Manzano Santander, Valentina.; Santacruz Tenorio,Valeria.; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)Cannabis refers to substances derived from the Cannabis sativa L plant, commonly known today as medical marijuana, used therapeutically to manage certain diseases and alleviate pain. In its fresh state, cannabis contains tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, which later converts into THC, its main psychoactive compound. Although THC is the most prominent, cannabis includes over 500 components and at least 113 cannabinoids. The legality of cannabis remains controversial due to risks such as dependency. Medicinal marijuana is indicated for treating pain, controlling nausea and vomiting, and stimulating appetite. Its legal use varies by country, with authorization for conditions like multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and epilepsy. According to the American Pain Society, cannabis treatment should follow protocols similar to opioid management, with clear guidelines and risk monitoring. Despite its long-standing presence, cannabis continues to spark debate. This study, based on a quantitative, comparative, descriptive, and cross-sectional approach, aims to balance its risks and benefits, emphasizing its therapeutic potential and the importance of humanized care in clinical practice. Discussing medical cannabis offers individual, community, and societal benefits, including health promotion, stigma reduction, and encouragement of further research.Item Prevalencia y consecuencias del síndrome de burnout en el personal asistencial de salud según revisión sistemática 2018-2023(2024) Gomez Monroy, William Arley; Perea Riasco, Ginna Paola; Martínez, Ana Maria (Director)This abstract presents a systematic review (2018–2023) on burnout syndrome among healthcare personnel, a chronic condition triggered by excessive workload, long hours, and staff shortages. Burnout manifests through symptoms like fatigue, anxiety, depression, and cognitive difficulties, severely impacting both individual well-being and healthcare service quality. The findings highlight a high prevalence of burnout in health professionals and underscore the urgent need for strategies such as training, self-care, organizational support, and work-life balance policies. However, it is often subject to unnecessary medical interventions that may negatively impact the mother's well-being and her bond with the newborn. In this context, the role of nursing in applying alternative therapies becomes especially relevant, offering women a more natural and respectful birthing experience. Perinatal nursing, with its holistic and humanized approach, stands as a key pillar in promoting humanized childbirth. This study aims to analyze the role of nursing professionals in implementing these therapies through a systematic literature review conducted between 2018 and 2023 across various databases in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. The expected outcome is to highlight the active and meaningful contribution of nurses in fostering a woman-centered, compassionate birthing process.Item Conocimientos, prácticas y actitudes frente al uso medicinal del cánnabis en estudiantes de quinto a octavo Semestre de medicina de una universidad privada de Palmira Valle del cauca en el año 2023.(2024) Góngora Charry, Dabeiva Alejandra; Mosquera Gil, Ginna Valeria; Mosquera Mosquera; Laura Daniela; Molano Agudelo, Pedro Andrés (Director)The study aimed to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding medical cannabis among medical students from the fifth to eighth semester during the year 2023. A survey was administered to 166 participants via Google Forms, following a project briefing and virtual informed consent. Data analysis was conducted using Excel, applying both univariate and multivariate techniques. Results showed that 52.14% of students had low knowledge on the subject, 74% demonstrated acceptable attitudes toward its therapeutic use, and 70% had no practical experience. The study concludes that, although students show a positive disposition, there is an urgent need to strengthen their academic training on medical cannabis, also considering its legal and social implications to ensure safe and effective clinical practice.Item Consecuencias a la salud del síndrome de apnea de sueño en población adulta según revisión sistemática entre los años 2017-2023(2024) Mosquera Torres, Hellem Jhojana ; Puentes Scarpetta, Shayra Yurena; Sierra Noriega, Oscar Eduardo; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan FernandoThis study aimed to determine the health consequences of sleep apnea syndrome in the adult population through a systematic literature review conducted between 2017 and 2023, following the PRISMA protocol. The review included observational and descriptive studies from major databases such as PubMed, Scielo, BVS Nursing, Taylor & Francis, and Elsevier. Findings indicate that sleep apnea is more prevalent in men, with increased incidence in postmenopausal women. CPAP therapy is recognized as the most evidence-based treatment. The condition is strongly linked to obesity and body mass index and has a significant multisystemic impact, causing mild effects like poor sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, migraines, and mood changes, as well as serious complications affecting cardiovascular, metabolic, cognitive, and mental health.
