This study, based on a review of national and international literature from 2019 to 2023, identified its key features and approaches, emphasizing maternal grief and the psychosocial environment. Databases such as BVS, PubMed, and Dialnet were consulted using keywords related to perinatal death. The findings revealed that Colombia has specific guidelines and legislation for addressing perinatal and neonatal grief, along with institutional therapeutic tools not found in other countries. The study concludes that the Butterfly Code constitutes a fundamental framework for maternal-perinatal care, highlighting the need to strengthen its implementation in Colombia, particularly through theoretical and psychosocial approaches to grief, with a view toward future application.Item Conocimientos y actitudes frente al uso medicinal del cannabis en estudiantes de enfermería de una universidad de Palmira – 2023b(2024) Garcés, Juan Camilo; Orrego Piedrahita, Nathalia; Yandi Lasso, Dennis Fernando; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)This study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitudes toward the use of medicinal cannabis among first- to fifth-semester nursing students at Universidad Santiago de Cali, Palmira campus, during the 2023B academic period. Using a quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional design, a validated 24-question survey was applied to a probabilistic sample of adult students who consented to participate. The results showed that while 47% reported moderate knowledge about medicinal cannabis, a significant portion had limited understanding of its dosage, types, derivatives, and potential risks. Attitudes varied, with 52% remaining neutral about the need for medical prescription and 33% slightly agreeing that cannabis is safe when used responsibly for therapeutic purposes. Overall, the findings indicate low levels of knowledge but a notable interest in this alternative treatment, highlighting the need for enhanced education on medicinal cannabis within nursing programs.Item Conocimientos y actitudes sobre el uso medicinal del cannabis en los estudiantes de sexto a octavo semestre del programa de enfermería de una Universidad privada de Palmira en el año 2023.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Gil Aguirre, Keara;; Manzano Santander, Valentina.; Santacruz Tenorio,Valeria.; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)Cannabis refers to substances derived from the Cannabis sativa L plant, commonly known today as medical marijuana, used therapeutically to manage certain diseases and alleviate pain. In its fresh state, cannabis contains tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, which later converts into THC, its main psychoactive compound. Although THC is the most prominent, cannabis includes over 500 components and at least 113 cannabinoids. The legality of cannabis remains controversial due to risks such as dependency. Medicinal marijuana is indicated for treating pain, controlling nausea and vomiting, and stimulating appetite. Its legal use varies by country, with authorization for conditions like multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and epilepsy. According to the American Pain Society, cannabis treatment should follow protocols similar to opioid management, with clear guidelines and risk monitoring. Despite its long-standing presence, cannabis continues to spark debate. This study, based on a quantitative, comparative, descriptive, and cross-sectional approach, aims to balance its risks and benefits, emphasizing its therapeutic potential and the importance of humanized care in clinical practice. Discussing medical cannabis offers individual, community, and societal benefits, including health promotion, stigma reduction, and encouragement of further research.Item Consecuencias de los trastornos del sueño en el rendimiento académico de estudiantes universitarios en carreras de la salud entre los años 2013 a 2023: revisión sistemática de literatura(2024) Gonzalez, Nathalia; Lozano, Nathalia; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)Sleep disorders significantly impact the physical and mental health of university students in health-related fields, where academic demands, clinical practice, and lifestyle habits—such as excessive technology use and alcohol consumption—contribute to conditions like insomnia and excessive daytime sleepiness. These disturbances impair concentration, attention, cognitive performance, and increase stress and fatigue, ultimately affecting academic success. A systematic literature review conducted between 2013 and 2023 using the PRISMA protocol revealed the prevalence and consequences of sleep disorders among this population. The findings highlight the urgent need for educational programs and support services to enhance students’ quality of life and academic achievement.Item Consecuencias en la salud mental causadas por eventos traumáticos en menores de 15 años en Latino América según revisión sistemática de literatura entre los años 2018 y 2023(2024) Saa Riascos, Dalia Nicole; López García, Yurani Marcela; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)Mental health in children encompasses more than the absence of disorders; it involves coping with stress, developing skills, building positive relationships, and contributing to society. However, traumatic events beyond a child’s control can severely impact emotional well-being, leading to psychological disorders and psychosocial disabilities. To explore these effects, a systematic literature review was conducted between 2019 and 2023 using the PRISMA method, analyzing 1228 articles from national and international databases, of which 25 met the inclusion criteria. The findings reveal that violence and trauma can hinder cognitive development, impair social interactions, lower academic performance, and increase mortality risk. Recognizing a history of abuse is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, emphasizing the need for a compassionate, holistic approach that considers each child’s personal history.Item Detección Temprana De Alteraciones De Salud Mental En Adolescentes Escolarizados De Un Colegio Público En El Municipio De Palmira.(2022) Villota Muñoz, Elisabet; Bedoya Lasprilla, Tatiana; Jojoa Rivera, Angie Vanessa; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)This study aimed to identify the risk factors for mental disorders among adolescents enrolled in a public school located in commune 2 of Palmira, Valle del Cauca. The findings revealed that a significant portion of the students experience emotional symptoms such as nervousness, tension, boredom, difficulty thinking clearly, and challenges in decision-making, despite the absence of notable family history of mental illness. These emotional indicators represent potential risk factors for the development of mental disorders, highlighting the relevance of this issue for further research and preventive interventions within the educational setting.Item Detección temprana de alteraciones de salud mental en adolescentes escolarizados de una institución educativa pública en el corregimiento de Amaime - Palmira. 2022(2024) Hincapié Martínez, Cristian David; Jaramillo Paz, Laura Melisa; Maldonado Duarte, Anyela Katherine; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)The article aimed to identify the risk of mental disorders in school-aged adolescents (aged 16 and 17) from the Amaime rural area in Palmira. An exploratory, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted, using a 39-item instrument to assess symptoms related to depression, anxiety, stress, suicidal ideation, psychosis, and alcohol consumption. The analysis (using Excel and SPSS v. 27) showed that most participants were 16-year-old women, of mixed race, from socioeconomic stratum 1, and enrolled in 11th grade. The overall results did not identify relevant clinical findings in the general population; however, it was found that women showed greater significance in the manifestation of physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms. The conclusion is that, while the overall risk is not significant, this predisposition among women suggests the need for continuous and timely follow-up in adolescent mental health.Item Detección temprana de alteraciones de salud mental en adolescentes escolarizados en el municipio de Tumaco(2022) Godoy Ortiz, Juan David; Mantilla Riascos, Leisy Paola; Marquínez Grueso, Karen Johana; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)A quantitative study conducted with 130 high school students (aged 16 to 18) at the Institución Educativa Ciudadela Mixta Colombia in Tumaco, Nariño, sought to identify the risk of mental disorders among young people. Furthermore, it was found that more than 28% of participants reported symptoms of psychological distress, including frequent headaches, insomnia, difficulty making decisions, and loss of interest. The study concludes that, despite the low general risk, these symptoms deserve individualized attention to identify their causes, and emphasizes the importance of protecting and promoting the emotional well-being of adolescents given their inherent vulnerability to age-related changes.Item Detección temprana de alteraciones en salud mental en adolescentes escolarizados en una institución educativa pública de la zona rural de Palmira en el año 2022(2022) Valderrama Salazar, Carolina; Caicedo, Dayan Angelica; Henao, Alexa Vivian; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan Fernando (Director)This research aims to identify the frequency of mental health disorders among adolescents enrolled in a rural school in the municipality of Palmira, Valle del Cauca.
