Cancer symptoms and treatment negatively affect quality of life through physical discomfort, mental stress, and economic pressure. In 1990 the World Health Organization introduced the palliative care initiative, which represents medical care focused on improving the quality of life of patients with an interdisciplinary approach (1) . Methodology: A literature review corresponding to the year 2018-2022 was performed using prism methodology. in the databases: Dialnet Plus, Scopus, Springer Nature, Ministerio de Salud, Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, BioMed, Biblioteca Universidad del Bosque, Taylor & Francis, Scielo, Science Direct, Journals, PubMed; 30 articles related to the research objective were found and were part of the resultsItem Abordaje fisioterapéutico en lesiones musculoesqueléticas en deportistas de halterofilia(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Quiñones Soto, Stefania; Guevara Franco, Juan Sebastián; Jaramillo Gómez, Luis Gerardo; Izquierdo Zambrano, Judy Madeleine (Directora)Musculoskeletal disorders arise from internal biomechanical factors or injuries, affecting the musculoskeletal system and often linked to prolonged exposure to specific activities. Una revisión de alcance(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Quintero Rivera, Laura; Montero González, Julián Andrés; Girón Mera, Andinson; Carvajal Tello, Nathali (Directora)Item Abordaje fonoaudiológico en pacientes oncológicos(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Salinas Cardona, Alejandro; Torres Pedroza, Karina; Burgos Garcia, Monica (Directora)Cancer is a condition that generates abnormal cell growth, which can develop due to changes in the genetic material called mutations (1). These mutations can develop over months or years, causing cancer-related events to appear in a specific area or migrate systemically to other areas of the body, causing metastasis and increasing the risk of loss of function or even death. The types of cancer related to the alteration of the stomatognathic functions and to the phonoaudiological work are classified in a topographic way, such as the larynx and underlying parts of the oral cavity, which corresponds or is part of the category of head and neck cancer. In such a way, the immersion of the professional in speech therapy pathologist within an oncological context is very recent and little recognized, there is no consensus of the work that this professional performs in patients with cancer or post treatment, and the need from his work, in this sense, in this section, it is directed to the characterization of the participation of the professional in speech therapy as a member of the whole clinical team working in the full and holistic care of people diagnosed with cancer.Item Abordaje psicológico de la esquizofrenia desde los cuidados paliativos(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Viveros Balanta, Andrea Valeria; Acosta Pulido, Ángela Patricia; López Peláez, Jessica (Director)Palliative care emphasizes alleviating the symptoms, pain and suffering of patients mainly oncological, however, mental disorders have been relegated to not be considered terminal diseases. However, pathologies such as schizophrenia imply a deterioration in the patient's quality of life, since it involves their cognitive, social, emotional and physical capacity. The WHO mentions that people with schizophrenia are 2 and 2.5 more likely to die at a young age. The aim of this study is to conduct a review that allows characterizing schizophrenia as a disease that requires psychological intervention from palliative care. It was found that the literature on this topic is scarce, evidencing the limitations of psychological intervention in this area, since these patients develop multiple comorbidities that lead to the treatment being focused on physical illness leaving aside the mental disorder. Reason why, it is intended to propose an intervention strategy called Art Therapy, which allows the patient to develop their social skills and improve their quality of lifeItem ¿Abrir o no la cámara en clases mediadas por tecnologías? Item Acciones de fisioterapia en el deporte paralímpico, una revisión de alcance(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Lucio Martínez, Mayra Alejandra; Mosquera Mosquera, Juan Camilo; Lozano López, Juliana; Urrea Arango, Diana Carolina (Asesora); Escobar Borda, Diana Marcela (Asesora)Item Acciones de intervención fonoaudiológica para favorecer el lenguaje oral en escolares – Una revisión de alcance en Latinoamérica(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Obregón Garcés, Eliana Marcela; Obando Castro, Jelner Alexander; Velásquez Guzmán, Eduardo José (Director)The actions of phonoaudiological intervention aimed at favoring oral language in school children are considered as those practices performed by these professionals as facilitating strategies that contribute significantly to the development processes in students who are in school context. The school population, specifically those who are in early childhood and second childhood, are a fundamental axis in this research since a great part of the professional and personal advances are achieved after the early detection of pathologies related to language and human communication processes, allowing them to directly reach maturity in these phases of development. On the other hand, the present investigation corresponds to a review of scope where methodologically it was linked to a search scheme called CPC (Concept, population and context). Automatic, manual and thematic filters were used to find scientific documents. Among the main findings, it was identified that the population taken as a research study belongs to the early and second childhood life course and that the strategies most used by speech therapists to promote oral language processes correspond to sentence structuring activities, sequences and play. One of the limitations of the present study was to find little scientific documentation that met the inclusion criteria in databases indexed in the Universidad Santiago de Cali.Item Acciones de prevención del riesgo cardiovascular asociados a variaciones del somatotipo endomesomorfico en adultos universitarios(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) García Bonilla, Karen Yoana; Moran Murillo, Stephanie; Betancur Valencia, Maria Camila; Vitery Ramos, Jenny del Rosario (Directora)The article highlights the importance of addressing cardiovascular risk related to body composition in university adults, emphasizing the need for preventive strategies adapted to this population. The connection between obesity, lack of physical activity, and energy imbalance with cardiovascular risk is emphasized, as well as the promotion of active and healthy lifestyles to avoid long-term complications. The prevalence of sedentary behaviors and the relevance of body weight control to prevent chronic diseases are highlighted. Objective: To investigate through a scoping review the strategies to prevent and/or reduce cardiovascular risk in university students with a tendency to endomorphic phenotype, with the purpose of generating preventive actions.Item Acompañamiento a mujeres con cáncer de mama en su etapa inicial(2023) Vélez Vargas, Sandra Milena; Carvajal Vargas, Lina Vanessa; Meza Gilon, Yeison David; Bambague, Goldy (Directora)Breast cancer is a disease with a wide prevalence in women, it has gained visibility in all areas in order to promote early detection and achieve fewer sequelae in those who suffer from it. Its diagnosis is accompanied by physical and emotional symptoms, as well as psychosocial repercussions that begin during the different stages of transition through treatment and outcome. Objective: To determine how psychosocial and family support influences during treatment for women with cancer in its initial stage. Methodology: systematic review of articles published between 2017 and 2022, emphasizing studies that have documented the monitoring of women with breast cancer in its initial stage. Results: 12 articles are identified that document different psychosocial and family support strategies, which focus on providing psychological support to face fears and insecurities regarding the development of the disease. The different stages of breast cancer from its initial stage generate fear and uncertainty in the patient, which requires psychosocial support from the family as well as health professionals and thus respond to psychological and physical needs. Conclusion: Psychosocial and family support improves mood, reduces depression, and facilitates the willingness to participate and comply with treatment. Women diagnosed with breast cancer who perceive social support have a positive effect on their attitude towards the treatment and prognosis of the disease; This is considered a key element to better face the cancer diagnosis. Despite the evolution in the understanding of sexuality, masturbation has been a historically taboo, even being condemned for religious and pseudoscientific reasons. This study focuses on exploring the attitudes of adolescents from a secondary school in CaliColombia towards female masturbation in the year 2023. The research was based on a non-experimental quantitative methodology, with a type of descriptive research and a cross-sectional design, to carry out the research, an inventory previously validated by experts on the attitude towards female masturbation was applied, to obtain an overview of the students of the institution, in the results we found that the attitudes of adolescents towards female masturbation indicate a mostly positive trend in the behavioral and cognitive dimensions. The majority of participants (56.5%) show a favorable predisposition towards behaviors associated with female masturbation, while 26.0% express resistance in the behavioral dimension. Regarding the affective dimension, a small difference is observed between those who are in favor (39.7%) and against (40.7%) of expressing themselves emotionally. Acording to this we can say in conclusion, that the study indicates in general aspects, that the adolescents show positive attitudes towards female masturbation. The cognitive component reveals that more than 50% of adolescents have knowledge and positive beliefs about the importance of access to information and self-knowledge in relation to sexuality, supporting the idea that sexual education is fundamental in their development.Item Actividad física como estrategia de prevención para el síndrome del cuidador cansado: revisión sistemática.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Zárate Arias, Laura Valentina; Morillo Benavides, Edgar Javier; Gil Tigreros, Anye Daniela; Zuñiga Jiménez, Claudia Tatiana( Asesora)The informal caregiver plays an essential role by providing unpaid care to people with disabilities, which entails physical, psychological, emotional, and social risks that may lead to caregiver burden syndrome. Physical activity, understood as any bodily movement involving energy expenditure, emerges as a key tool to preserve physical and mental health. This bibliographic review (2013–2023), based on randomized clinical trials, case-control studies, and following the PRISMA guidelines with the PEDro instrument, shows that caregiver burden is associated with physical and mental demands as well as unhealthy lifestyles. The results indicate that regular exercise, particularly aerobic activity, reduces stress, anxiety, depression, musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and cardiovascular risk, thereby improving caregivers’ overall well-being. In conclusion, the reviewed literature suggests that physical activity can reduce the symptoms related to caregiver burden syndrome in those caring for dependent individuals.
