¿Qué español enseñar? Lengua e identidad cultural en la enseñanza de ELE
(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Avirama Cartagena, Catalina; Restrepo Bonell, Lina Susana (Directora)
This article reflects on the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language (ELE) from a cultural, critical, and identity-aware perspective. Its objective is to explore the benefits of language teaching in the construction of the cultural identity of students who learn Spanish, recognizing that teaching a language also means teaching a way of inhabiting the world. Through the development of three main ideas—language as a vehicle for identity, ELE teaching as a space for cultural encounter, and identity within ELE instruction—the article argues that language should not be taught as a closed system nor from a single variant, but as a living, diverse, and deeply human tool. It is proposed that the ELE classroom can become a space for intercultural dialogue, where the teacher’s role goes beyond technical instruction and becomes a mediation of meaning and culture. It is also affirmed that learning a new language can lead to processes of identity reconstruction and personal transformation. Finally, it concludes that all varieties of Spanish are valid, as long as they are taught with respect, contextual awareness, and openness to diversity. From this perspective, teaching a language is not just about delivering content, but about accompanying students in the search for their own voice within the language.

La canción como estrategia de motivación para el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera
(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2021) Chica García, Andrea; Giraldo Marín, Karen Stefany; Gómez Morales, Laura Marcela; Rivera Araujo, Yessica Melissa; Lozano, Pablo

Curricular proposal in favor of inclusive education in a bachelor's degree program in foreign languages
(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Osorio Orozco, José Leandro; Giraldo Escobar, Laura; Jaramillo Franco, Laura María; Bravo Baeza, Rodrigo
This research is related to a curricular proposal in favor of the inclusive education in a bachelor’s degree program in Foreign Languages at a University located in the city of Cali, which arises from the experience of a pedagogical practice held by the researchers in basic secondary education in an educational institution located in the same city, which is focused on the inclusive education. During this very same time it becomes evident that specific instruction is necessary from the academy which is training those who will serve as teachers for a population with different cognitive, motor and/or social diagnoses. From there, the general objective is to determine a curricular proposal that provides pedagogical tools and strategies for the attention towards diversity in the existing curriculum, thus generating spaces for reflection and social and academic impacts for the parties involved, among which are the directors, teachers and students. The methodology was qualitative, to the extent that it allows the collection and description of information through two instruments used: epistemological table of documentation and a survey, applied to 65 members of the educational community, including 56 students and 9 teachers. Analyzing the results, it was found that the Ministry of Education supports integrated education from the normative, in addition, it is shown through the questionnaire that the educational community has knowledge about the curriculum and inclusive practices. Finally, it is concluded that it is important to implement a curricular proposal, based on the Universal Design for Learning (DUA) and the Individualized Plan for Reasonable Adjustments (PIAR), as a means to enrich the training of future teachers.

Ressources TIC Développement De La CCI Du FLE En 1er Cycle
(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Rengifo Salamanca, Guillermo Andres; Robayo Garcia, Danna Samanta; Zuleta Calderón, Hannel Sharioth; Mora Pedreros, Paula Andrea
As Guillen states: « Language and culture are presented to us as an inseparable whole, because every act of speech is structured according to a social and cultural dimension » (2004, p.838), This allows us to affirm that, in order to learning an integral and useful language in real communicative contexts, these should be taught together. The 10th grade students of Colegio San Ambrosio presented a unknowledge of the culture of the foreign language (LE) and a lack of appropriation of the culture of the mother tongue, as well as the absence of clarity about the importance of learning and little ability to make use of it in communicative contexts. Therefore, the present project made use of TIC resources for the development of Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC) (Byram, 1997) of French as a Foreign Language (FLE) through the proposal of Liddicoat (2008), in order to form an intercultural speaker through the implementation of a didactic sequence. Using the qualitative methodology and action-research type, it was possible to conclude that the implementation of a didactic sequence through TIC resources that develops the CCI is positive, as long as the teacher's role is to guide the development process of the intercultural pedagogical proposal of Liddicoat and, in addition, the time available for the development of noticing, comparing, reflecting and interacting is sufficient.

(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2021) Camacho Cangá, César Augusto; Guetio Poscué, Fabián Ricardo; Perea Cárdenas, Christian; Lozano, Pablo
This article presents a look at the text of Sara M. Parkinson de Saz Theory and techniques of translation, where she gives an account of her position with respect to the theories and techniques of translation. She elucidates terms already known but from his own approach, which in his opinion is different. She also investigates the position that culture occupies to point to translation in the present, with its view on the techniques used from the proposals of some universities. And finally she lands on possible defects and lexical problems of literary translations by showing some hypotheses that have appeared under the scrutiny of critics. She ensures that her intention is only to draw attention to the complexity of the task, as she herself calls her work.
