Item Consecuencias en la salud mental causadas por eventos traumáticos en menores de 15 años en Latino América según revisión sistemática de literatura entre los años 2018 y 2023(2024) Saa Riascos, Dalia Nicole; López García, Yurani Marcela; Bedoya Sandoval, Juan FernandoIntroduction: Mental health is essential and goes beyond the absence of disorders; it involves coping with stress, developing skills, and contributing to the community. Cultivating positive relationships, harmonizing ethical ideals, and creating life projects are crucial. It should be noted that there are adverse situations beyond the control of minors that can affect their emotional well-being, potentially leading to mental disorders and psychosocial disabilities. Objective: To determine the mental health consequences of traumatic events in children under 15 years old through a systematic literature review between 2019 and 2023. Methodology: A study under the PRISMA method was conducted, based on the search for secondary sources. Various databases were reviewed, including Universidad Santiago de Cali and Universidad del Valle, as well as platforms like Scielo, Google Scholar, Dialnet, ScienceDirect, Sage Journals, and the regional portal of the BVS. Keywords such as mental health, school mental health service were used, and inclusion criteria included articles published between 2018-2023 that mention mental health consequences, both nationally and internationally. Results: A systematic review was conducted across different databases, yielding 1228 related articles, from which 25 articles meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected. Conclusion: National and international studies reveal various psychological disorders caused by traumatic events in children under 15 years old, along with the consequences and interventions outlined in the articles. Violence can adversely affect cognitive development, leading to difficulties in interpersonal relationships, poor academic performance, and increased mortality risk. It is important to consider the possibility of a history of abuse when diagnosing and treating mental health problems in youth. Promoting recovery and overcoming traumatic experiences, emphasizing that a comprehensive understanding of the individual's personal history is key to offering effective and compassionate treatment.
