We sought to strengthen the emotional state of the children, their intra and inter personal relationships, which is why we went to the development of a didactic sequence divided into ten sessions each aiming to improve the socio affective competence.Item Como a través de la estrategia pedagógica "la huerta ecológica" se logra motivar a los niños y niñas del jardín infantil Las Tórtolas de Timbiquí Cauca a que regresen al aula(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2018) Florez Sinisterra, Yina Tatiana; Cobo Dorado, Johanna PaolaThe present project focuses on the use of the pedagogical strategy, "The organic garden", which gives the motivation of children in the Kindergarten of the Tórtolas de Timbiquí Cauca to return to the classroom. In the kindergarten there are 15 children between 2 and 6 years old. The current problem is that children have left the classroom because they prefer to accompany their parents to their work, being these the agriculture and fishing. For the above, we present the pedagogical proposal The Organic Garden in order to motivate children to return to the classroom, the proposal de contextualiza since it is part of their culture and daily practices of family life , but through this a pedagogical purpose is achieved where one works from the integrality of the boy and the girl. Through this, the aim is to improve the learning rhythms, and in this way, boys and girls, boys and girls.Item Las actividades rectoras como estrategia mediadora para el fortalecimiento del trabajo colaborativo y el desarrollo de habilidades sociales en los niños y niñas de transición del jardín infantil Los Pitufos(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2018) Medina Osorio, Dayana; Narváez Velasco, Jessica; Ussa Almendra, Marisol; Miranda, María ClaudiaItem Influencia de la comunicación oral en la interacción social en educación infantil(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2018) Ospina Prado, Ángela; Vitonás Pechené, Viviana; Cobo Dorado, Johanna PaolaThe present work is a research project that is framed in the description of the concrete situations in which the influence that oral communication has on the social interaction of the boys and girls of the transition school, of the implementation of a plan of activities that foster moments of observation of the different aspects that intervene in oral communication; It is very important to keep in mind that adequate communication is a fundamental means to make good practices of coexistence and thus generate a good social interaction. The results have some difficulties in aspects such as expression, attention and interpretation and the sea with their peers and teachers; when making the initial comparison with the final, it is important to highlight that these present difficulties can be improved through the implementation of different activities or strategies according to the characteristics of each child.Item Diseño curricular innovador para la educación inicial(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2018) Bravo Quintero, Daniela; Reyes Duque, Andrea; Pérez García, Andrea; Cobo Dorado, Johanna PaolaItem Failures in EFL Literacy at Higher Education(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Castro Pedroza, Castro Pedroza; Sierra Ortiz, Diana Marcela; Braconnier, AnaïsThe next proposal attends to analyze students of English as a second language (ESL), who might be presenting difficulties in literacy skills. In order to recognize those difficulties and know how those are related to a non-completely successful second language (L2) learning of English. To accomplish this study the main focus is literacy, skills, and evaluation as the theoretical framework on which the research will be supported, to get the proper data collection and its later analysis. The Santiago de Cali University (USC) language institute was chosen to develop this study, specifically the first level English students. Considering that in a beginner level it would be easier to recognize the literacy skills failures focus on grammar, presented by the students in the effort to comprehend and try to classify which their possible sources are and why they remain until a high educational level like University. The methodology implemented was the qualitative research through a survey and a written assignment, which allowed us to identify the literacy skills failures. Finally, with this study we would like to contribute to education, in this case to the L2 teaching and learning process. We, as foreign language learners. Have struggled with literacy skills difficulties and we believe that if a teacher realizes about students failures; and delve into their possible causes, it might be easier to attempt to guide the student into a process of learning while correcting mistakes instead of just learning by jumping into gaps.Item Integrating ICT in teaching a foreign language(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Melchor Urriago, Shirley Dayanm; Narváez González, Alejandro; Carrillo Ordoñez, Valeria; Fernández Benavides, AlejandroThe research consists on the analysis of the integration of information and communication technologies in language teaching in a teacher formation program in a private university in Cali. It aims to identify the attitudes, uses and perspectives of teachers and students regarding the integration of technology in the teaching of a foreign language, in the Integrated Skills course in English VII of the program of Foreign Languages at Santiago de Cali University. In addition, our theoretical perspective focuses on the active use of technology in education and language teaching. This is a qualitative case study where interviews, surveys, and observations were used for the data collection. The collected information was analyzed by frequency analysis and discourse analysis. The results show that some of the professors of the program of foreign language at Santiago de Cali University use technology for the development of their classes. However, the use of technologies in classes focuses on a passive notion of the apprentice where technology is used mainly to perform limited activities. In addition, the findings suggest that there must be a teacher training in order to use technology in education to develop different activities in order to motivate students during their learning process. Consequently, it is suggested that future studies focus on the students' conception of technology and the impact of particular language skills and their conception of language teaching and learning. Moreover, this research is useful for future researchers in order to analyze the importance of the integration of information and communication technologies in the classroom. Finally, this study opens the door to future research for a greater understanding of the processes of integration of technology in the training of foreign language teachers.Item Creation and use of an english language primer for transition level students(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Lucumí Lucumí, Leidy Joana; Sánchez García, Luz Elena; Murillo Rodríguez, Luis Alberto; Rojas Miranda, Juan SebastiánThe present study focuses in the methodology implemented by teachers to strengthen the five to six years old student's reading skills at the Santiaguitos kindergarten located in the Santiago de Cali University. For this purpose, a diagnostic observation was set up and implemented for students while an interview with structured questions was conducted with the teacher and administrative staff, seeking to obtain relevant and significant information regarding the English proficiency level of each student selected for the study. The methodology implemented by the teacher in order to teach English language was also revised, as the methodology implemented by the teachers to strengthen the Santiaguitos kindergarten student's reading skills. The main goal was to test a new didactic material, (a primer) in English language, that was designed previously in order to improve the student's reading skills by using images (animals, colors, family members, numbers) and simple puzzles based upon the constructivist paradigm. After exposing the children to the new Primer and its associated activities, new testing and interviews allowed the assessment of the Primer´s advantages and challenges.Item Usefulness of skimming strategy to strengthen the reading skill through videogames with sixth grade students at Colegio Mayor Alférez Real(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Riascos Benavides, Diana Marcela; Montaño Candelo, Muhammad Rida; Teneche Sánchez, María FernandaThis article presents the results of an investigation done with eighteen students in the sixth grade of the Colegio Mayor Alférez Real. The issue with the students was related to reading comprehension in English, for that reason, the skimming strategy was used as a manner of investigating the problem in depth. The general objective stated for research was to analyze if the implementation of the skimming skill strategy through videogames is suitable for improving reading comprehension. The videogame was used as a means to use the skimming strategy to find out if it was possible to improve reading comprehension. Throughout the study, a lot of observation took place (including both participant observation as well as non-participant observation), and for that reason, it was necessary to use field notes and questionnaires in order to have sufficient physical data.Item Influencia de los ambientes ecológicos en el rendimiento escolar de estudiantes. Estudio de caso: Institución Educativa Donald Rodrigo Tafur, Grado Octavo(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Bermúdez Otalvaro, Silvana María; Morales Elejalde, Angélica María; Ocampo Agudelo, Mayra Alejandra; Mosquera Cadena, JohannaThe objective of this thesis is to identify how ecological environment influence academic and disciplinary performance of eighth-grade students of the IETI Donald Rodrigo Tafur school. The ecological theory of human development of Urie Bronfenbrenner was used to achieve the purpose; this theory proposes that human actions are determined by series of interrelations of man in an ecological scope, which is a relation of individual-context. It focuses on the human behavior, having an effect directly on society. Bronfenbrenner set up a logical and organized method to concentrate ecological environments within perfectly defined systems denominated: Micro-system, mesosystem, exo-system and macro-system. The approach for this thesis was qualitative in an exploratory-observatory and applicative perspective, then it was a description and analysis of obtained results. The outcomes of an accurate methodological process demonstrated the eighth-grade students of the IETI Donald Rodrigo Tafur School mobilize in a hostile ecological environment such as violent and dangerous neighborhood, government abandonment and intrafamiliar conflicts, affecting negatively the academic and disciplinary performance.Item Caracterización del currículo en la educación inicial en el liceo Anglo del Valle(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Ordoñez Valencia, Angie Lizeth; Rodríguez Angulo, Helen Caterine; Zorrilla Tello, Mónica Lorena; Morales Cuellar, YoelThe main objective of this research is to characterize the curriculum for initial education at the Liceo Anglo del Valle educational institution (IE) in the city of Santiago de Cali. For this purpose, the characteristics of the proposal were identified in terms of its design, development and evaluation; the characteristics of the curricular elements that make it up were described and an assessment is made taking into consideration international and national normative and investigative references and criteria. The methodology adopted was qualitative, based on a descriptive study and the application of empirical methods such as participant observation, documentary review, interview, survey and field diary. The findings obtained through the triangulation of sources and methodological made it possible to verify that the curriculum (formal and operational) for initial education in EI is characterized by being planned, consensual, participatory, integrated, flexible, taking into account the characteristics and particularities of children and the context where it is implemented. It is developed through an intentional teaching-learning process. It is evaluated in a continuous, integral, systematic, flexible and formative way. When evaluating the curriculum in initial education, in the context studied, it is noted that, in general, it meets the criteria addressed by UNESCO, UNICEF, Gervilla (2006), Fujimoto (2001), and the MEN. It is concluded that it is feasible, applicable, viable and pertinent. It can and should be improved and perfected in terms of its conception, innovation and modernizationItem The stimulation of the reading skills, among a2 level high school students from the empresarial moderno school, through the implementation of the context-based learning approach regarding false cognates activities(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Bejarano Ojeda, Alejandra; Losada Solarte, Carolina; Quirama Tascón, Estephani; Bravo Baeza, RodrigoEnglish in this case as L2 and Spanish as L1 share a set of words that shape some morphological similarities that constitute a group of words normally known as Cognates; although they are almost written in the same way in both languages, it does not mean they always share the same meaning; so that, they can be True or False Cognates. Due to this, students can either achieve or not an effective interpretation of a reading material. Therefore, the problem that can emerge from this is the possible misinterpretation of some English messages read by Spanish speakers, since they tend to decode them based on morphology and not on the knowledge of the L2 language; then it is important the stimulation of the reading skills among A2 level high school students, through the implementation of, by means of this study, the Context-Based Learning (CBL) approach, regarding false cognates activities, in a research that might help develop better decoding skills of the L2 messages. To carry it out, a pre-test, an intervention class, and a post-test, all based on the CBL approach, were designed in order to apply them to 50 students from an educational institution located in Cali, Colombia. The analysis allowed to recognize the existence of a continuous confusion represented by the incorrect lexical decoding of words that share the same orthography/spelling but differ in meaning. In conclusion, the implementation of the CBL in the class and the integration of False Cognates inside written dialogues, allowed students to stimulate their reading comprehension skills while they were acquiring new vocabulary and realizing the importance of the context inside texts or real-life situations.Item Didactique avec mèmes de type explicatif pour le développement d’habiletés cognitives en français avec les étudiants de premier semestre de langage et langues étrangères anglais - français à la Université Santiago de Cali(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Avirama Muñoz, Gildary Sthefanía; Enciso Ramírez, Yisleth; Rojas Miranda, Juan SebastiánThe University Santiago de Cali offers an English-French Language and Foreign Languages Program, run by a group of teachers highly qualified in the field of language and education and they are the responsible for transmitting knowledge through different teaching strategies and methods. The aim of this research work is to raise awareness of a new teaching strategy that can be used by French teachers and help students develop their cognitive skills through the creation of explanatory memes, which can be considered authentic material motivating the learning of a foreign language. During this work, three stages are presented, each of which is characterized by the primordial development of a cognitive skill (planning, organization, and memorization) in order to obtain as final result an explanatory meme that will be published on the social network (Facebook) and then shared on an educational page.Item Aplicación de algoritmos en el cálculo mental y las operaciones básicas utilizando modelos virtuales que posibiliten el desarrollo progresivo del sentido numérico(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Ferraro Rodríguez, Michelle Dayana; Ruiz Naranjo, Eliana Jazmín; Castellanos Acosta, Cesar Augusto; Paz Samudio, AlfonsoThe present work is based on studies about the construction of fundamental mathematical concepts using virtual models, carried out by Dr. Alfonso Paz Samudio. His most recent research indicates that students have entered the first semester in the area of fundamental mathematics within the university and its impact on failure and university dropout. Based on this, the University of Santiago de Cali (USC) has launched an institutional program called PIPE (Institutional Program for Student Permanence) whose central purpose is the dropout rate and improve the academic performance of students through transversal strategies to the USC. Conscientiously, the present research project works with the students prior to entering the university, that is, the students during the school period and the monitoring of the construction and management of algorithms, the statistics of mental calculation, using the virtual technological tools as a measure of accompaniment and didactic help to obtain its purpose: to raise the degree of mathematical cognition of the studentsItem Estrategias de aprendizaje para la construcción de herramientas tecnológicas implementando la plataforma educativa Educaplay(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Lucumí Charrupi, Carlos Arturo; Truquez Larrahondo, Javier Alexis; Villota Enríquez, Jakeline AmparoThe present article consists of identifying and analyzing the strategies used by the students for the literacy of technological appliances, a look from the virtual platform Educaplay. The context of this study was the Educational Institution Monsignor Ramon Arcilla, located in the city of Cali, Valley of the Cauca belonging to the commune 14 of the Neighborhood Marroquin II. In addition, the participants of this study were thirty-eight (38 children of third degree of primary belonging to the above-mentioned educational institution. The method used in this study, was qualitative, in which, the procedures implemented for the compilation of information it given across the observation, that is to say, by means of the recording of video’s, photos and the field notebook. The obtained results demonstrate that there exist different strategies used by the students in the moment of using the virtual platform Educaplay, which, identified, described and classified according to Monereo (2000). It is important to highlight that each of the strategies used by the students has immersed a certain premeditation tied to the task proposed by the teacher. Item La familia como eje fundamental en la creación de hábitos de higiene en los niños y niñas de cuatro y cinco años del liceo los Guayupines(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Angulo Caicedo, Kelly Xiomara; Escobar Angulo, Yoly Yinella; Mena Rodríguez, Paola Andrea; Pardo Jaramillo, SorayaThis project is focused on the family as a fundamental axis in the creation of hygiene habits, since the family is the first institution where cultural bases, rules, grooming habits, social roles, ethical, moral and religious values are founded. Therefore, when children enter school they carry with them a series of knowledge that is instilled from the family, which are reinforced in the educational field, in order for children to grow and develop holistically. For this reason, the main objective of this academic work is to identify the characteristics of children from four to five years of age at Los Guayupines High School compared to hygiene habits. Similarly, an interview was conducted with the teacher of the transition grade, and a survey of the parents of the children immersed in the research, with the purpose of collecting information regarding the purpose of the research. According to the results obtained, it can be deduced that most of the children had knowledge about hygiene habits, given that parents and school encourage these habits, it was also found that some children do not appropriately appropriate the techniques of cleanliness, that is why to promote these self-care routines the pedagogical strategy was carried out: "Take care of our body" which consisted of providing tools to promote personal self-care through recreational activitiesItem Fortalecimiento del pensamiento científico en niños mediante actividades lúdicas(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Yepes Espinosa, Yury Andrea; Moreno Rodríguez, Ivar De Jesús; Gutierrez Avendaño, Carol MildredThe purpose of this research is to strengthen the scientific thinking in students from pre-kindergarten leisure activities. To achieve this was taken as a reference action research which according Tierrablanca (2009); It bases its research on the "scientific thinking skills in young children," admits they are interested in giving explanation to the phenomena occurring around them; what happens in nature. States that children show their curiosity and wonder at the problems, argues that scientific thinking is not exclusive to great inventors on the other hand is an attitude to the world that makes it easier for children to explain the phenomena they observe. The researcher presents arguments to establish that young children develop scientific thinking. First, the ability to ask mentioned; He states that the question is the engine of scientific thinking because there are always questions about the mysteries of nature. Also establishes a relationship between the child's mind and creative mind adult, is a mixture of both as is limitless, as seeks to provide solutions unconventionally, they are ready to go into the unknown. He argues that the creative adult retains characteristics of the child because it does not conform to existing and accepted theories. In this sense any valid explanation given by the child, as he seeks to find an answer to the different situations that arise. This is a great challenge to be assumed by teachers, not to pigeonhole his thought as an adult, or put limits on possible theories arising from their students; In other words, the teacher should also possess creative thinking, to develop successfully since scientific thinking classroom in children. The sample involved in the research are students of two institutions of the private sector in the city of Cali, with a total population of 40 children 5 years old (20 children per institution). For sample selection took into account the intention conforming show groups of 10 students per school. Methodological development consists of three phases: the first known Fortalecimiento del pensamiento científico en niños mediante actividades lúdicas characterization phase, in which we seek to establish the level of scientific thinking of students from the implementation of an instrument used by Orozco Hormaza. B. C, Puche Navarro. R. (2003, p 23) which referred to "the status of the lamp"; the second phase called strengthening seeks from the contextualization made in the first phase to establish strategies and recreational activities to strengthen scientific thinking. To do four hours a week interventions were carried out for a period of three months; the last phase called evaluation seeks to determine the level of development of scientific thought that students achieved, for which takes into account the test applied in the characterization phase collecting information for later analysis. In conclusion of this paper grade it is emphasized that recreational activities are a strategy that gives students the tools to strengthen scientific thinking. It should be noted that leisure activities alone do not guarantee the development of the scientific thought in children, should take into account external factors to become an effective strategy, such as mastery of the teacher in the area of knowledge in which he works; appropriate learning environments so that the student participates in the process feel you are living and not Cohíba at the time to express their ideas; good management of pedagogical and didactic component that allows teachers to determine the appropriate time to generate the cognitive stimuli that make the student active in the process; a constant reflection by teachers of their work in the classroom, so you can improve teaching and learning processes that are carried from the interaction with studentsItem Las motivaciones en el proceso de aprendizaje de la tabla periódica(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Lara Quesada, Mauricio Alfredo; Torres Arroyo, José Manuel; Leal Castro, AlejandroThe present research project was able to describe the fundamental role of extrinsic and intrinsic motivations within the learning process of the periodic table of undergraduate students in natural sciences of the Santiago de Cali University. For this reason, a qualitative research is carried out, using an instrument for the collection of information that in this case was a semi-structured interview. For this reason, some evidence is obtained through writing and audios, where later results are derived which indicate that the motivations have a direct relationship with the learning process of the periodic table, being able to be contextualized towards everyday life phenomena. Part of the students
