Item Necesidades nutricionales de la mujer en el periodo de gestación. Una revisión de la literatura(2021) Amaya Peñaranda, Valentina; Díaz Chavarro, Blanca Cecilia (Directora)Good nutrition is essential for the development of the fetus, since the body goes through a series of physiological, biochemical and metabolic changes that require a number of nutrients. Therefore, the objective of this work is to identify the nutritional needs of pregnant women. To meet this objective, studies and research by different authors and specialists regarding this topic were reviewed and published in the period 2016 and 2021. The systematic search was carried out in six electronic databases, which were: Pubmed, Dialnet, Dspace, Scielo, ScienceDirect and Elsevier. Evidence was obtained of how eating practices affect fetal development, finding that the deficit of nutrients such as proteins, vitamins, minerals, fiber and nutritional supplements such as folic acid, calcium, iron, among others, are usually essential for pregnancy. Adequate consumption of vitamins B12, vitamin D, selenium, zinc and fatty acids is of great importance, as well as the intake of complex carbohydrates, legumes, cereals and tubers, the consumption of water, vegetables and fruits. As a conclusion, it is evident that the insufficient consumption of micronutrients is a factor of occurrence for anemia, which affects the normal growth of the fetus, therefore, it is necessary to follow the recommendations of the food pyramid; Likewise, weight gain during pregnancy and the deficiency of some nutrients is a latent issue in most pregnant women, therefore, it is necessary for pregnant women to maintain a complete diet rich in nutrients with in order to reduce overweight and everything that this condition entails. However, the contribution and role of health personnel as the nursing area that has an ideal professional profile and is considered the fundamental pillar to provide information and education for an adequate nutritional status of pregnant women are essential for the promotion and prevention of adequate prenatal control and maternal-fetal wellbeing.
