Ansiedad lingüística en estudiantes universitarios. Revisión reflexiva y líneas de intervención pedagógica
(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Bermúdez Angulo, Darcy Natalia; Mora Jiménez, Abraham (Director)
Introduction: Teaching English in the Colombian university context faces multiple challenges. One of the most overlooked but decisive challenges is language anxiety, a form of situational anxiety that affects students' willingness and performance in language use contexts. Objective: To critically reflect on the role of language anxiety in learning English as a foreign language and to propose lines of educational intervention in the Colombian university context. Methodology: A reflective review of current scientific literature (2015–2024) was conducted in indexed databases (Scopus, ERIC, SciELO, DOAJ, and Google Scholar). Results: It was found that conventional assessment practices, forced oral exposure, and a lack of teacher training in social-emotional skills are factors that intensify language anxiety. Alternatives were also identified, such as the redesign of assessments, the use of affective diagnostic tools, and the implementation of strategies based on emotional support. Conclusion: Language anxiety is not a minor phenomenon; it is a symptom of pedagogical models that exclude emotionality from learning. Addressing this problem is an ethical and pedagogical requirement and doing so can improve not only academic results but also well-being and equity in the university classroom.

(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Londoño Correa, Isabella; Correa Gabante, Viviana Alexandra; López Osorio, Sebastián; López Santander, Rodrigo (Director)
The aim of this article is to evaluate the relationship between stress, anxiety and depression levels and academic performance of medical students of a private university in Cali during the period 2024A; it follows a quantitative, descriptive and correlational approach, cross-sectional and non-experimental. The DASS-21 scale was applied and the academic average of 60 students of the fourth, fifth and sixth semesters was obtained. As a result, stress was the most prevalent factor among medical students (73.3%), followed by anxiety (68.2%) and, to a lesser extent, depression (56.7%). However, a significant negative relationship was found only between the level of depression and academic performance (p=0.030). In conclusion, this study indicates the importance of prioritizing the treatment and prevention of depressive symptoms within the psychological support strategies in educational institutions to promote higher academic performance.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a condition that if not treated effectively affects the overall functioning of the individual. Accurate diagnosis is crucial to prevent erroneous treatment that exacerbates complications, as it has been identified that health and education professionals face challenges related to variability in symptoms, coexistence with other disorders, and the influence of contextual and environmental factors. Currently, diagnostic tools present limitations and there is a need for more specific criteria for its recognition in the school environment. The aim was to analyze the difficulties associated with the accurate diagnosis of ADHD in school children, through a narrative review of the existing literature in databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect and web of science. The findings showed that factors linked to: perceptions and lack of knowledge about the disease; lack of validity of diagnostic instruments; discrepancies in the results within the evaluation processes; symptoms similar to other disorders; lack of experience of the professional and deficiency in the provision of health and mental health services, were the cause of difficulties for accurate diagnosis. It is concluded that the aforementioned causal factors generate difficulties associated with clinical malpractice and deterioration of global functioning, making it necessary to promote and strengthen psychoeducational strategies to minimize the lack of knowledge that increases the associated difficulties and exclusion.

The aim of this research was to analyze the relationship between apathy and infidelity in young adults in dating relationships in Cali, Colombia, in 2024. An instrument validated by 3 expert judges was designed to evaluate the levels of apathy, the prevalence of infidelity, considering gender and its correlation. The instrument created obtained a cronbach's alpha of 0.88, indicating a high internal consistency. The results indicated that most of the participants showed low levels of apathy, suggesting commitment to the relationship. However, 40% of the 380 respondents acknowledged having been unfaithful, with a higher prevalence in the female gender at 22.8%. The p-value < 0.001 obtained in the different statistical methods (Pearson and Kendall's), shows that there is a positive but moderate relationship between the variables apathy and infidelity. (Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Quetama Polania, Brand Jeebson; Tamayo Montoya, Paula Andrea (Directora)
Sexual violence in children and adolescents (NNA) is a global public health problem. When talking about aggressors it is very common to hear concepts such as "pedophiles" or "pedophiles". However, the latter deals with a paraphilic disorder that does not necessarily determine that the person carries out the criminal act. Thus, the main objective of the article is to identify through the scientific literature the characteristics that define the difference between the profiles of pedophiles and sexual abusers (pedophiles). This article carried out a reviewtype methodology following the parameters of the PRIMAS SCR Scoping Review methodology, through databases such as ScienceDirect using the following keywords, (pedophilia) AND (child sex offender) AND (sex offender) AND ( characteristics OR profile), after this the search for documents was delimited specifically research articles taking into account the time frame of a decade. A total of 14 articles were reviewed, of which the results found are that pedophiles present anxiety in adult social relationships, defect and subjugation schemes, in addition they tend to justify their behavior because they have not used coercion, manipulation, bullying, drugs and consent acts. While pedophiles do not present anxiety when establishing adult relationships, they are more likely to maintain social isolation schemes, tend 2 to develop a sense of risk or levels of exposure to harm, constant approval approval due to parenting problems, and fear of the system. of punishment and punishment, they are also less likely to remember their parents as emotionally warm and suicidal ideas are reluctant to have this type of inclination.

(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Rojas Martínez, Hary Nathalia; Giraldo Aguirre, Santiago; Benítez Murcia, Daniela Carolina; Erazo, Oscar Armando (Director)
Intelligence, understood as the ability to adapt and solve problems, influences the way in which a human being faces the problems of daily life, having repercussions on love, social and ethical life. Vulnerability, understood as the context in which the human being does not have access to his fundamental rights in a satisfactory way, influences the development of intelligence, thus generating an interest in the visualization of this factor in students from 8 to 10 years old in selected institutions of the municipality of Cali. Considering all this, the objective of the research is to identify the existence of a relationship between vulnerability and intelligence in children from 8 to 10 years old from vulnerable educational institutions in the municipality of Cali. To accomplish this, a descriptive and quantitative cross-sectional design was carried out. It involved 92 students belonging to the vulnerable institution Manuela Beltrán and the non-vulnerable institution Lancaster Bilingüe School. The K-bit test was used to measure the variables of crystallized and fluid intelligence and IQ. These variables are evaluated in the following categories: very low, low, medium low, medium, medium high, high and very high. The K-Bit test revealed results with notable differences between the intelligence of students in the non-vulnerable institution and the vulnerable institution. In the case of the vulnerable institution it was recorded that 69.5% of the population oscillated between the very low, low and medium low categories in the verbal intelligence tests. 52.1% of the population oscillated in the very low, low and medium-low categories in the tests of fluid intelligence. 80.4% of the population ranged in the very low, low and medium-low categories in IQ tests. While, in the case of the non-vulnerable institution, its results showed that 80.3% of the population oscillated in the medium, medium high, high and very high ranges in the verbal intelligence tests. 80.3% of the population oscillated in the medium, medium-high, high, high and very high ranges in the tests of fluid intelligence. 80.4% of the population ranged between the medium, medium high, high, high and very high ranges on IQ tests. In conclusion, the data reveal that vulnerable individuals show medium to low score ranges, while non-vulnerable individuals presented medium to high score ranges. These results support the relationship between vulnerability variables and levels of fluid, crystallized intelligence and IQ. Overall, the study contributes to the understanding of how socioeconomic factors may influence intellectual development at early ages.
