It begins with the background of occupational safety and health, making known the origins and evolution of work behaviors at heights to date; Subsequently, information on the legality and regulations used in Colombia is provided, among these norms is Decree 1072 of 2015 where the work structure is stipulated. On the other hand, information on the ISO 45001 of 2018 standard is provided, which establishes parameters in occupational safety and health. The meaning of work at heights, indicators of accident in construction and tools necessary for the realization of work, such as scaffolding, platforms, stairs, among others, are also disclosed. The importance of identifying the safety factors for the preparation of the worker through training, medical check-up and adequate procedures to mitigate the risk to which they are affected is highlighted, thus ensuring the worker's life and obtaining good productive results.Item Análisis de la actualización normativa para los equipos de protección personal (EPP) en Colombia según la ISO 45001:2018(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Álvarez Duque, Víctor Manuel; Sanz López, Mauricio Alejandro; Manrique Torres, José Alejandro; García Jiménez, Juan Camilo (Director)The objective of this paper is to analyze the normative update for personal protection teams (PPE) in Colombia according to NTC-ISO 45001: 2018, for which a bibliographic tracking of the main texts addressed in the subject of NTC-ISO 45001: 2018, as well as documents that analyze the update and transition of the previous standard, as well as documents that mention the benefits of the new standard. The methodology used was descriptive by means of which reliable sources of information on the subject of this monograph were evaluated. Among the results obtained, it was possible to identify the great relevance that companies and employers currently have in Colombia with respect to guaranteeing safety at work and promoting the health of their workers, as well as compliance with regulations, laws and decrees. that the national government has established for the achievement or scope of said safety and health promotion in workers in the country, which includes the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Item Análisis de la gestión del área de compras como estrategia competitiva en las organizaciones(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Barona Robledo, Claudia Lorena; Banguera Caicedо, Paula Andrea; Garcia Cuervo, Carolina (Directora)Making purchases for the production of goods in organizations has become more than just a simple activity, nowadays this management is carried out by departments well equipped with the necessary resources to carry out this function. This area is responsible for acquiring and having available the required inputs (equipment, spare parts, raw materials, packaging material, products and even services), with the appropriate quality and at the best possible price, directly impacting the efficiency, costs and productivity of the entire company. However, the impact of this area represents for the organization up to 45 or 50% of cost participation, so it becomes important from a strategic point of view, increasing the interest in strengthening processes and results to achieve the objectives of profitability, differentiation and sustainability. The objective of this article is to offer the reader an easy-to-understand document that allows to understand the importance and impact of purchasing management as a competitive strategy in organizations, and also to deepen on the relationships between the supply chain, purchasing and success cases from the results in the supply that guarantee competitive advantages. The document begins with a bibliographic review based on the theory and definitions that different authors have on the subject; then, through a descriptive methodology, an analysis of the positions of the different authors cited in the text is carried out.Item Análisis de las prácticas de responsabilidad social en un emprendimiento informal de comida rápida ubicado en Santiago de Cali en 2024(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Cardona Diaz, Andrea; Chávez Arias, Isabella; Rojas Peña, Oscar Mauricio (Director)This research analyzes the social responsibility practices implemented by an informal fast-food venture located in Santiago de Cali in 2024. The study confirms that informal businesses are indeed capable of engaging in socially responsible practices implicitly, as previously identified in the literature review. The main objective of this research was to analyze the socially responsible practices carried out by an informal fast-food business in 2024. The study focused on understanding how these practices are applied in a business that has also expressed interest in formalizing its operations. To achieve this, three specific objectives were established: to characterize the social responsibility practices implemented in the fast-food venture, to examine the execution of these current practices, and to propose recommendations to strengthen social responsibility within the business. The study adopted a qualitative methodological approach with a descriptive and exploratory scope. Surveys and interviews were conducted with the owner and employees of the business to identify existing practices and improvement opportunities through four variables: economic, social, environmental, and stakeholders. Using industrial engineering tools, the results showed that the business maintains good relationships with suppliers, customers, and employees. However, it faces challenges related to waste management, financial transparency, and employee social security. To address these issues, strategic recommendations were made, such as implementing a waste management plan and a minimum standards plan aligned with the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SG-SST). These strategies aim to reduce environmental impact and improve working conditions, supporting the business in its path toward formalization.Item Análisis de literatura sobre los modelos de gestión de compras y suministro para las empresas del sector azucarero del valle del cauca(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Jaramillo Garcia, Stephany; Calderón Mazuera, María Fernanda (Directora)Whose objective is to carry out a bibliographic review for the identification and analysis of purchasing and supply management models for companies in the sugar sector of Valle del Cauca, is located in a paradigm that is widely applied worldwide; for this purpose, various techniques and tools of analysis have been used in the search for improving its performance and efficiency. Several research works have carried out detailed analyses of the chain, through the breakdown of the parts and elements that identify it, which has allowed revealing parameters and variables in its operation that turn them into critical success factors; these are the fundamental elements through which this research is developed, to carry out the respective analysis five components are taken, which in turn are broken down into 19 critical factors, which through their study allow appropriately locating the state in which the sugar organizations of the region find themselves. It should be noted that this analysis is of a theoretical nature based on bibliographic and qualitative research. On the one hand, studies that deal with sugar companies are identified in a general manner, using each of the components of the proposed model as search nomenclators and, on the other hand, the situation of the companies in the region; this, by means of a bibliographic review and critical analysis of studies in a time window of five years ago. This article contains information related to contextual definitions adopted by authors that delve into the characterization of risk definitions, in the analysis it is evident that there are many challenges when addressing the issue, regardless of the activity of the organization. Currently many methods are known to analyze and evaluate the risks that can cause an effect of uncertainty, yielding a result that can be positive (opportunity for improvement) or that can be negative (threat), is taken as reference ISO 9001: 2015 in its requirement the risk-based thinking that addresses methods of analysis and evaluation of the risks that may arise in an organization. Therefore, the AMFE method (analysis of the mode and effect of potential failure) is carried out, as an application tool to arrive at a result that allows identifying the failures in the process and in the product or service, as well as preventing possible rejections, allowing the development of alternatives towards continuous improvement.Item Análisis del aporte de las tecnologías emergentes en los procesos operacionales de la cadena de suministro en una empresa manufacturera del Valle del Cauca, Colombia(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Rosero Caicedo, Laura Juliana; Andrade Moscoso, Santiago; Arango Salcedo, Samuel; Cruz Narvaez, James (Director)This research aims to study the contribution of emerging technologies in a manufacturing company in Valle del Cauca, where it is sought to know whether or not the implementation of an inventory management system in the company’s CEDI provides benefits. Therefore, the general objective is to analyze the contribution of emerging technologies in operational processes in a manufacturing company in Valle del Cauca, Colombia and as specific objectives, identify technological developments related to emerging technologies applied to the supply chain, Define the supply chain processes susceptible to the application of emerging technology and, as a final result, simulate in FLESXIM the impact of emerging technologies on the supply chain in the logistics process in a manufacturing company in the Valle del Cauca, Colombia. A quantitative methodology was used, where numerical data will be used to measure and assess the impact of emerging technologies. This investigation has shown that the WMS inventory management system can reduce unnecessary movement, there was a significant increase in the time spent on other tasks or maintenance of equipment, on the other hand, it can be observed that with the implementation of WMS there is a tendency to decrease the margin of error in the organization of the products to be stored. Where it can be concluded that the implementation of this emerging technology in this manufacturing company generates benefits in terms of improved logistics and storage, also increasing lead times for the development of other activities that add to the supply chain.Item Análisis del impacto de la norma ISO 9001:2015 en el mejoramiento de la calidad de los procesos operacionales de una IPS(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Murillo Hinestroza, Diego Fernando; Urrutia Perlaza, Luis Gabriel; Calderón, María Fernanda (Directora)This research, entitled "Analysis of the Impact of ISO 9001:2015 on the Quality Improvement of Operational Processes in a Healthcare Provider (HPI)," was conducted in a healthcare provider institution (HPI) located in the southern Pacific coast. Its main purpose was to determine how the implementation of this standard influenced the quality, effectiveness, and user satisfaction of a healthcare provider. In this context, the research was developed based on three specific objectives: to diagnose operational processes before and after the implementation of the standard; to analyze its effectiveness in customer satisfaction and continuous improvement; and to propose strategies aimed at strengthening the quality of operational processes, all considering Chapters 8 (Operation), 9 (Performance Evaluation), and 10 (Improvement) of ISO 9001:2015. A mixed methodological approach was used with documentary analysis, interviews, and surveys of HPI users that were shared by the organization. The results obtained show that the IPS meets 78% of the requirements in the operations chapter, 63% in the evaluation/performance chapter, and 76% in the improvement chapter Furthermore, the systematic application of quality management principles has allowed for the identification of specific opportunities for improvement, the establishment of more effective controls, and the promotion of an organizational culture oriented toward continuous improvement. Furthermore, the implementation of a quality management system based on ISO 9001:2015 not only improves internal processes but also increases user satisfaction, strengthens compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and generates a positive impact on the operational sustainability of the IPS. Through characterizations, a clear path has also been established to guarantee institutional quality and effectiveness. However, findings such as non-compliance with requirements in chapters 8 (Operations), 9 (Evaluation and Performance), and 10 (Improvement) of ISO 9001:2015 and a lack of correct.Item Análisis del impacto del modelo ABC en empresas latinoamericanas(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Diaz Alvarez, Santiago Andres; Campo Mazorra, José Luis (Director)This article examines the impact of the ABC classification model on Latin American businesses and explores how its implementation has contributed to supply chain optimization across industries over the past eight years. Using qualitative methods, real-life case studies are examined to understand the implementation process, initial challenges, and approaches to integrating the ABC model into inventory management. The study explores how the ABC model can help companies prioritize key products and resources, improving efficiency in key areas such as inventory turns, logistics planning and cost control. In addition, this paper explores the adaptability of the model in different industrial environments and its potential impact on customer satisfaction and corporate competitiveness. This review includes comparative charts and graphs illustrating general trends and patterns, providing a comprehensive understanding of t he utility of the ABC model in strategic decision-making in the Latin American context. The analysis provides insight into the limitations of the ABC model with its strengths, laying a solid foundation for future application by companies looking to optimize inventory processes and improve responsiveness to market demand.Item Análisis del impacto del modo de transporte férreo en la movilización de carga desde el puerto de buenaventura hacia el interior del departamento del valle del cauca(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Beltrán Quintero, Camila Andrea; Hurtado Ponce, Jorge Andrés; Cruz Narváez, James (Director)In this article an analysis of the impact of the rail transport mode from the port of Buenaventura to the interior of Valle del Cauca is carried out, where it is identified through a literature review about the concepts related to the mobilization of cargo and the use of these for the transfer of goods in Colombia; to carry out this work an order of priorities is taken into account that covers from the identification of the most used mode of transport, the comparative of the port participation of Colombia and in this way identify the impact it currently has in the country through the port of Buenaventura. It is of utmost importance to clarify that through the analysis of the impact of this mode of transportation (railroad) a possible proposal for the reactivation of these routes will be observed, taking into account future logistic analysis and the industrialization of the routes. In order to arrive at this work, articles from the database of the Universidad Santiago de Cali and different web pages that complement this research are taken into account. Finally, a comparison of the available modes of transportation for the transfer of goods within the department of Valle del Cauca is carried out, where their determinants are evaluated in social, environmental and economic aspects, thus ensuring not only the efficiency of the transfer of cargo, but also the share of environmental care by the department of Valle del Cauca.Item Análisis del tratamiento y aprovechamiento de llantas usadas revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Benavidez López, Paola Andrea; Ortiz Guerrero, Daniel; Valencia Ramírez, Jorge; Ramírez Guespú, Julián Andrés (Director)The tires currently used represent an ecological, environmental and health problem in the different cities of Colombia, as a result of the inadequate final destination given to these pieces, because many are deposited in ravines or wastelands, others incinerated in spaces open sky and those that are recycled are not fully utilized. To cover this problem, a bibliographic review is presented in order to analyze the treatments and uses applied in the reuse and management in some places of the Colombian territory, whose objective is to identify some benefits and advantages, which contribute to generate a positive environmental impact, In addition to the economic one, which would be reflected with the reception of these processes in the industry, where we can denote some of their possible uses in the field of metallurgical, textile and construction, as well as taking into account that this material not only has benefits For this sector, it is also used for the development of recreational entertainment spaces. The above focuses on the maximum use of this recycled product, minimizing the impact of pollution on the environment and impact on human health that can be generated by improper waste management, preventing them from ending up in sites such as wastewater channels or public spaces. It was also found that in other Latin American and European countries they use strategies for decontamination and use of rubber tires. There are studies, projects and strategies have been proposed to implement processes that allow for the best reuse. Colombia is becoming aware and showing great attention in this area, providing support for the formulation of new ideas that allow the use, decontamination and improvement for environmental sustainability, based on the ISO 14001: 2015 standard for companies that carry out these activities, which establishes through an Environmental Management System to comply with requirements that contribute to the protection of the environment and respond to its changes, always maintaining a socio-economic balance. Companies have the responsibility and commitment to achieve the stipulated results referred to in the standard. through continuous improvement, compliance with environmental objectives and obligations, to thereby determine the impact and identify the risks and opportunities. This standard works according to the PHVA method, which consists of planning, doing, verifying and acting, which in other words is defined as establishing objectives, developing processes, monitoring and measuring to adopt improvement actions. For this purpose a bibliographic review was carried out in scientific databases, strengthened with articles published in specialized journals and books of the same order. Among the results derived from the documentary review, the processes of ISO-9001 were identified, the implementation of story methodologies such as the MFEA and Risk Management from ISO-31,000, positively influence the quality management of organizations, as well as in the fulfillment of the challenges that strengthens its level of formalization, recognition and promotes the implementation of organizational development strategies for the fulfillment of its objectives and competitiveness in the market; It should be noted that any organization that successfully mages to address the assessment and prevention of risks has first level advantages within its structure, such as having a control plan on the processes, identifying the potential failure modes, the effect of each one of the possible failure modes and their severity within the process, all this generates the identification of the corrective actions required to reduce, prevent and improve the methods to detect failures early.Item Aplicación de la metodología Lean Six Sigma para mejoramiento continuo en procesos de una empresa de servicio(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Luna Sotelo, Fernando; Lozano Herrera, Carlos Andrés; Guerrero Moreno, David Rodrigo (Director)This article deals with the continuous improvement of the document custody process through the Lean Six Sigma methodology in a service delivery company, the work was done with the aim of reducing the current operating cost of the process. The development was done through the DMAIC roadmap methodology that allowed to identify, improve and control the critical independent variables that affected the current cost and define mechanisms that will maintain the solution over time. During the development, it was possible to identify the lack of governance and control during the entire flow of documents derived from the processes of linking and service provision, lack of standards in the document purification where we apply the concept of added value and absence of policies for the proper management of information of the associate since at the end of 2017 had a record of 244,422 active associates and 558,765 files of associates were found in physical custody. The final result was able to define different custody schemes by type of process according to the needs of internal and external clients.Item Aplicación de la norma ISO 9001-2015 en Instituciones de Educación Superior(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Timana Montenegro, Catherine ; Domínguez Delgado, John Jairo; Cabal Arévalo, Jefferson Andrés; Guerrero Moreno, David Rodrigo (Director)In this bibliographic review article, the structure and criteria for the execution of a quality management system are considered, applying the ISO 9001 standard for higher level educational institutions. Mainly the theoretical review was based on quality management systems and their concepts, high quality guidelines in training programs and their standardization. As a result of the review, a great contribution was made to the higher academic training sector (Universities) and to society in general at the level of the operational organization for the execution in higher education institutions of a quality management system, defining in turn, those responsible and associated activities for the execution of the ISO 9001 standard. The study methodology used in this bibliographic research consisted of the collection of 30 review articles downloaded from the database of the virtual library of the Santiago de Cali University, specifically containing topics related to the ISO 9001 standard, its application in institutes of higher education and other organizations in general, consisted of reviewing the content of said article and rescuing the relevant information regarding the different forms of application found in the researched literature.Item Aplicación de Lean Manufacturing en la industria automotriz(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Bolaños Salas, Juan Felipe; Campo Banguero, Carolina; Ramírez Muñoz, Jenny Isabel; Guerrero Moreno, David Rodrigo (Director)Lean Manufacturing known by its acronym LM is a work philosophy that proposes to obtain greater benefits using fewer resources. It has been applied in different sectors of the manufacturing industry; its greatest development has been in the automotive sector where it possibly originated. Today in a competitive market, companies controlled by short delivery times, low costs and high levels of customer service satisfaction. This article will analyze the implementation and results of different companies in the automotive sector that have applied the LM methodology to improve their operational processes. For this, the review of different articles and case studies published about LM and some of its tools for continuous improvement such as 5, Kanban, Just in Time, VSM, Six Sigma, SMED and TPM. Obtaining as a result of this investigation information and knowledge of the most relevant achievements that were obtained with its implementation.Item Aplicación del proceso de mejora continua en él área de ventas de la agencia de viajes viajeros por el mundo(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Martínez Armero, Isabella; Arce Mosquera, Jhaminthom Damián; Caicedo González, Giovanny; Cortez Vásquez, Monica Andrea (Directora)The objective of this article was to provide a continuous improvement process focused on the sales area of the Travel Agency (AVM) around the world of the city of Palmira through the plan, do, verify and act (PHVA) cycle. The research proposed a descriptive methodology with a qualitative approach, through which it allowed the review of scientific literature through databases such as Dialnet, Scopus, Google Academic and Scielo, which allowed the analysis of the antecedents found in MSME companies recognized for their quality management that belong to the tourism sector. Subsequently, these results were compared with the processes and procedures of the AVM. This led to proposing the design of a continuous improvement process in the Agency's sales area to contribute to the company's sales, guaranteeing sustainability in the tourism market as MSMEs. As a result, a periodic financial balance agreement carried out by the agency's accounting area showed an increase in sales of 2.5% compared to the previous year as a consequence of the application of the continuous improvement process. To achieve this objective, a brief description of the company is presented, in order to establish the way in which its operation and organizational style have been given; Likewise, aspects of its size are exposed, and the way in which it is characterized within the market. Adding to this, the stages of its production process are presented, to then detail the standard cost model, carried out under the Visual Basic for Applications tool, or Excel VBA, being available to interested personnel. In the final discussion, the results obtained are contrasted with some similar research internationally.
