The objective of this research is to analyze parenting styles versus eating behavior disorder traits in adolescents aged 15 to 17 years from the city of Cali at the Santo Tomas Educational Institution, CASD headquarters in 2020. This study follows a qualitative typology, descriptive method and design case study, in this sense, a structured interview was conducted that allowed us to define the study categories, with a sample of ten people. According to the above, results such as; Dysfunctional parenting styles influence the onset of eating disorders in an indirect way. Students who perceive their parents with a democratic parenting style do not present risky eating behaviors. Eating disorders are more prevalent in women than in men. Most of the adolescents (6 students) from 15 to 17 years of age at the Santo Tomas educational institution, CASD headquarters, consider the physical aspect to be decisive for feeling valuable, since this generates self-confidence, increases self-esteem and they feel good about themselves. Not paying attention to food, the type of food consumed, or having established schedules are an influencing factor in risky eating behaviors. The greater the family and emotional support, the less likely it is to develop an eating disorder.Item Relación entre represión psicológica y desarrollo de la personalidad: revisión narrativa de la literatura(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Salazar Ramírez, Nathalia; Carvajal Botero, AlejandroAn individual establishes the foundations for his psychological and emotional development throughout his existence, starting with childhood, a period of great importance in his life. A topic that has caused much debate in recent decades in scientific literature is the relationship between psychological repression and personality development. Personality in adulthood refers to the way a person behaves, thinks, and feels throughout their adult life. This develops as the person experiences different situations and events throughout their life. On the other hand, mental well-being in adulthood refers to the emotional, psychological and social state of a person at this stage of life. This includes feeling satisfied with life, being able to handle stress and adversity, having good interpersonal relationships, among other aspects. Both aspects are closely related, since a healthy and balanced personality is usually associated with a higher level of mental well-being in adulthood. Being in harmony with oneself, having positive self-esteem and being able to adapt to changes are factors that contribute to better mental well-being at this stage of life. It is also important to have an emotional, social and emotional support network that can provide support in difficult times and be able to seek professional help if necessary. The relationship between psychological repression and personality development has been a topic of constant debate in scientific literature for the last 28 years. Over time, childhood has been recognized as a critical stage in an individual's development where traumatic events can lead to psychological disorders in adulthood. Studies and research have been conducted during this period of time in an effort to shed light on this complex interaction. It has been examined in great detail how traumatic events and experiences in childhood can influence the formation of the psychic structure and the manifestation of psychological disorders in adult life, from the perspective of classical psychoanalysis and object bonds. The latter are the emotional and affective relationships established between an individual and external objects, such as people, animals, places or things. These relationships can be positive or negative, and play a crucial role in a person's emotional and psychological development. Examining the main elements of psychic development during childhood and adolescence, this monograph is focused on the influence of psychological repression on the configuration of personality. In this sense, it is hoped that this monograph will contribute to the academic discourse on a topic of great relevance in the field of psychology by offering a deeper understanding of the processes that shape human experience from childhood to adulthood.Item ““Sentirse bien con uno mismo” imaginarios sociales sobre la “salud mental” en adolescentes de la ciudad de Cali-Colombia en el año 2021.”(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2021) Diaz Gonzalez Valentina; Conrado Zorrilla Isabella; Mora Villarraga Sofía Alejandra; Bolaños, Diego FernandoObjective Understand the social imaginaries about Mental Health in adolescents in the city of CaliColombia. Method A qualitative research framed in the clinical-oriented “intervention-research” was carried out with which it was sought that the participants achieved subjective elaborations on the object studied. For this, the heuristic method (remember-repeat elaborate) was used. Ten (10) adolescents from socioeconomic strata of the city of Cali-Colombia were selected for convenience in order to show differences in relation to social imaginary about mental health in regard to the respective sociocultural context. Semi-structured interviews were conducted (two -2- per participant). The stories obtained were analyzed discursively, following the principles of psychoanalytic theory. Given what they said, an attitude of suspicion was assumed, also applying psychoanalytic listening. As for the analysis, this was carried out manually (creating tables by categories and by subjects) with the use of Word tools. With this strategy, it was possible to take the main ideas that were read from the perspective of signifiers. The subjects were presented, for their voluntary reading and completion, informed consents / assents and, in the case of minors, parental consent. Results Participating subjects (of both sexes) were between 13 and 18 years old. A variety of results were evidenced aimed at the subjective perspectives of adolescents in relation to mental health, it was also found that some of the subjects have attended psychological consultation, although not all have done so voluntarily and that, in almost the totality of the subjects, the subject of mental health is not one of daily treatment. Conclusion There are similarities in the mental health imaginary that the Cali adolescents participating in this research have, for some it is “feeling good about oneself” for others “not having problems”, likewise, it was found that social, cultural and family contexts influence directly in the perceptions and opinions they have about Mental Health, either supporting the constitution of said social imaginaries or differing from them.
