Item Factores de riesgo y protección en la transmisión de la violencia familiar(2024) Cifuentes Gómez, Jhoser Esteban; Ramírez Ramírez, Isaac Lee; Prado Lucumi, Beatriz EugeniaThe intergenerational transmission of family violence is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon influenced by various individual, family, social and cultural factors. Bandura's social learning theory explains how children exposed to violence in the home tend to internalize and replicate those violent behaviors in their own future relationships. Other key risk factors include unfavorable socioeconomic backgrounds, mental health problems, and cultural beliefs that normalize violence. This early exposure to violence not only increases the risk of perpetrating it, but also of being a victim, as it shapes expectations about what is considered a "normal" relationship. Family violence has a negative impact on the cognitive, emotional and social development of children, in addition to generating significant economic costs for health and social service systems. To effectively prevent this cycle, a comprehensive approach is required with early interventions at multiple levels, from the individual to the sociocultural level. This involves providing psychological support, promoting healthy family relationships, addressing socioeconomic inequalities, and deconstructing harmful cultural norms. Only through a deep understanding of the various contributing factors and multidimensional evidence-based strategies will it be possible to break the cycle of domestic violence and build a more equitable society.
