Introduction: Non-invasive respiratory support is one of the first-line interventions in patients with infectious respiratory diseases, however, there is controversy about aerolization and the risk of contagion associated with its use. Objective: to establish from the evidence the dispersion of aerosols and the risk of contagion associated with the use of oxygen therapy and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
