Item Maduración ósea en mujeres entre 6 y 15 años que practican deportes: revisión de alcance(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Arteaga Vélez, Ana María; García Arias, Santiago; Velarde Vásquez, Juan Camilo; García Caro, Andrés Mauricio; Zuñiga Jimenez, Claudia Tatiana ( Directora)Bone maturation is a key indicator of biological development in young female athletes, as it allows for the adjustment of training loads and the prevention of injuries. The aim of this scoping review was to analyze the literature published between 2014 and 2024 on the bone maturation status of girls aged 6 to 15 who practice sports. Four studies were included with a total of 246 participants, with a mean age of 11.06 ± 1.5 years and a BMI of 20.35 kg/m², within the healthy range. The reported sports disciplines included volleyball, basketball, handball, jiu-jitsu, karate, swimming, and rhythmic gymnastics. Various methods were used to assess bone maturation, such as mathematical models (Moore and Tanner), bioelectrical impedance, and anthropometric techniques. Results revealed that 61.1% of the girls presented delayed maturation, 21.5% normal maturation, and 17.4% accelerated maturation. It is concluded that the type of sport practiced may significantly influence bone maturation in adolescents, acting as a modulator of both skeletal development rate and bone mineral density. Further longitudinal studies are recommended to establish causal relationships between sports practice and bone maturation.
