Item Propuesta para el mejoramiento de los procesos operativos en la bodega de una empresa de mensajería en la ciudad de cali, mediante el modelo cross docking.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2018) Cadavid Montes, Carolina; Correa Nieto, Irley CristinaThe company started in 2005 as a staff provider in the city of Cali. In 2008, he started as a logistics operator in the operational processes for envelopes and small packages. In 2012, the contract was extended to the bases of Buga, Tuluá, Buenaventura, Palmira, Popayán, Santander de Quilichao, Pasto and Ipiales. This growth also led to the process of distributing envelopes and small packages. As of 2014, the market conditions and the industry of this service began to show relevant needs focused on handling parcels of larger dimensions and volumes; conditions that currently create the bottleneck in the operational processes of reception, classification and dispatch, in view of the fact that the design of processes and infrastructure had always been focused on the handling of envelopes and small packages. This paper aims to demonstrate the importance in improving the reception, classification and dispatch processes, aimed at greater productivity and efficiency in handling parcel shipments, to remain a competitive and current company in the current market. Current conditions regarding processes were analyzed, measuring handling times per shipment and their weighing and verification requirements; times of reception and unloading of vehicles; infrastructure needs in terms of warehouse due to insufficient process spaces; machinery necessary for handling high volume shipments and historical handling of parcel shipments. After analyzing the previous information, and investigating about the Cross Docking model, this model is proposed as a tool for the improvement of the processes that allow the company to remain a strategic partner of the clients-company in its logistics chain and continue to attract new clients ; Since this model is defined as an operational strategy that moves the elements through the consolidation centers avoiding storage and that worldwide provides support to the supply chain, thanks to this, the operating time is optimized by decreasing thus representative costs which may be reflected in profit and decrease in losses.
