This paper aims to know the banking role of SWIFT financial messages in the efficiency and security of international transactions according to academic research conducted between 2012 and 2019. The research is explanatory and uses secondary sources mainly from scientific databases. Around the subject Among the results were the disadvantages, advantages and challenges that SWIFT messages have in terms of issues such as cost, transaction time and the processing of personal data. In conclusion, the benefit represented by the security of the SWIFT message in the financial system, the disadvantages compared to the current demands and what are the challenges that must be faced taking into account the development of new technologies that intervene in the banking system.
