Item Eficacia de las técnicas con láser verde y holmium para la hiperplasia benigna prostática. Estado del arte(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Arango Arteaga, María Camila; Muñoz Bejarano, Lilia Sofía; Ramírez Valencia, Daniela; López López, María Nela (Directora)Introduction: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), is a benign pathological process, which is associated in 80% to age factors, being the most affected population men older than 50 years; however, at present, there are effective methods for the surgical treatment of BPH, such as, Green laser and Holmium laser, since they are minimally invasive methods and avoid at the same time injuries or damages to the patient.(1,2). Objective: To review the efficacy of green and holmium laser techniques for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Materials and methods: The present review was carried out by means of a search of articles in databases such as: Pubmed(n=34), MediGraphic(n=3), Elsevier(n=2), Scielo(n=9), Dialnet(n=5), ScienceDirect(n=14) and Google Academic Repository(n=14) for a total of 81 articles. Results: BPH is one of the pathologies that affects more than 50% of the male population, which is why specialists have opted for alternatives such as the use of lasers, since it is scientifically proven that it does not cause lesions and complications to the patient; on the other hand, it must be taken into account that both lasers are different in terms of their operation and their standards, since the Green laser is not suitable for large prostates. Conclusions: Lasers are highly effective tools for the treatment of BPH, since it is possible to show a decrease in prostate size without leaving residues in the patient, and at the same time avoiding injury to other nearby structures.
