Item Características y beneficios de la movilización temprana en la unidad de cuidados intensivos(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Valverde Ordoñez, Laura Alejandra; Cruz Quintero Andrés Felipe; Arevalo Tabares, Angela YaleskaIntensive care units are the clinical area where patients whose pathological condition has a high degree of risk of complications and high mortality rates are cared for. Therefore, clinical staff play an important role since monitoring and caring for the patient's stability is their main responsibility. Mechanical ventilation is one of the main supports that the patient requires in the development of 4 his pathology, which can be of respiratory, multisystem origin or pathologies that end up compromising the respiratory system and leading the patient to prolonged periods of mechanical ventilation and stay in hospital. icu. This situation causes a high degree of physical and physiological deconditioning in the patient, which delays the patient's recovery and readaptation to daily life. For this reason, intensive care units use EARLY MOBILIZATION, in order to rehabilitate the patient during their stay in the ICU, avoiding physical deterioration, weakness acquired in the ICU and the complications that this implies, such as prolongation of days. in ICU and even mortality. OBJECTIVE To determine the benefits and characteristics of early mobilization in critically ill mechanically ventilated patients. METHODOLOGY An exploratory review of the literature was developed from February to May 2024, which included research articletype studies, essays, systematic review, literature review, in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and German published between the year 2019 and 2024, which describe the characteristics and benefits of early mobilization in critically ill patients undergoing mechanical ventilation, taking into account factors such as start time of MT, inclusion criteria, and techniques used. . The review was carried out in the databases and search engines: Google academic, Pubmed, Scopus, Cochrane library, National library of medicine, Medline plus, Nature, Sage journals, Oxford university press. For critical appraisal, the PEDro, MINORS and SCED scales were applied. RESULTS 10 articles addressed the main topic of the research on the characteristics and benefits of TM considering variables such as: frequency of therapy, type of activity, start time inclusion criteria. CONCLUSION Early mobilization improves the functional status of the patient, reduces postintubation complications, reduces weakness acquired in the ICU, muscle weakness, days spent in the ICU, days on mechanical ventilation. Furthermore, it is evident that the best time to start TM is within the first 72 hours of admission to MV
