Methods: The present systematic review was carried out following the PRISMA guide methodology, with the objective of analyzing the effects of hydrotherapy in the rehabilitation of knee ligament injuries. The main objective of the study focused on the evaluation of muscle strength, range of mobility and pain perception. Keywords such as “Knee”, “Hydrotherapy”, “Ligaments”, “Aquatictherapy” and “Rehabilitation” wereused. Articles were eliminated by abstract type, title and duplicates, leaving 59 articles; These were analyzed and those that did not meet the inclusion criteria were discarded. Articles were excluded for not meeting the previously established keywords, leaving a total of 6 articles. Results: Variables related to the rehabilitation of patients with knee osteoarthritis were evaluated through conventional therapy and hydrotherapy, showing that, although hydrotherapy did not significantly reduce pain according to the WOMAC scale, it did manage to reduce it due to sensory stimulation. Both therapies improved joint mobility measured through goniometry, improvements in muscle strength and reduction of edema were observed. An advance was observed in the 6-minute walk, where the hydrotherapy group covered more meters than the room group. Finally, hydrotherapy helped reduce the genum recurvatum by improving knee stability. Conclusion: Hydrotherapy is considered effective and safe for the rehabilitation of knee ligament injuries, although there are limitations due to a lack of studies. The studies reviewed show that hydrotherapy, thanks to the physical properties, allows gradual loading, improving pain, range of motion and strength. Its use in specific protocols benefits joint stability and functionality, suggesting its potential as a key tool in physiotherapy.
