The problems that may arise due to ignorance of bacteria found in dental prostheses can lead to dental personnel suffering serious health consequences, since the dental laboratory is responsible for the preparation of dental prostheses between different devices, in accordance with the procedures and adequate requirements, therefore there is a risk of infection and spread of diseases in dental offices and laboratories, hence its importance of protecting the integrity of both the dental technician and the dentist and also of the patients.Item Análisis de la fabricación de coronas en zirconio con tecnología CAD/CAM: una alternativa precisa y eficiente(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Tello D’croz, Carlos Humberto; Zúñiga Vega, Andrés; Caicedo Realpe, Juan David; Obando Bravo, Oscar Armando (Asesor)Zirconium (CZ) crowns have provided a treatment alternative that combines clinically acceptable restorations and meets esthetic demands. The purpose of this study would be to demonstrate the efficacy of the zirconia crowns used in temporary teeth, evaluating for this, the resistance to fracture, the wear of the opposite dentition, the retention, the gingival health, the satisfaction of the parents and the clinical success. In addition, as secondary objectives, it could compare its efficacy with that of other coronal coverage restoration treatments in children and compare the different commercial brands available on the market.Item Análisis sobre adaptabilidad en la población rehabilitada con coronas CAD CAM(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Zapata Cossio, Anlly Sorancy; Vásquez Bonilla, Jhoan Ariel; Obando Bravo, Oscar Armando (Asesor)The world has had great technological advances and the health area is no exception. We will obtain more detailed knowledge when creating a dental piece digitally. The high demand for dental laboratories in our town ¨Cali Valle del Cauca¨. It leads us to the question of how many use the digital method as the main option for their work. The Santiago de Cali University gives us the opportunity to have in the academic curriculum the development of digital skills in the area of design and manufacturing of dental pieces. However, beyond the technical effectiveness of CAD/CAM crowns, the crucial question arises about how these prostheses impact the adaptability of rehabilitated patients. Adaptability, understood as the ability of individuals to adjust and function effectively in various situations, becomes a fundamental factor in the dental rehabilitation process. This analysis aims to explore this aspect in depth, considering both the physical and psychosocial aspects involved in the adaptation of the population rehabilitated with CAD/CAM crowns. For this reason we want to delve deeper into the topic, since many people do not have this opportunity. When documenting this process, an analysis was made of certain laboratories and dental centers; about the shortcomings that they present regarding the topic. We intend to have clear information for those students who are just beginning this process, since their learning will be a little easier. And to the health personnel in the dental area who do not handle this issue very well; They will be able to obtain knowledge and a better economic income.Item Biomateriales dentales en prótesis fija(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Cifuentes Alférez, Lorena; Tolosa Góngora, María Berenice; Rosales, Alejandro (Director)Item Bioseguridad, principales problemas y riesgos presentados en los laboratorios de Tecnología en Mecánica Dental de la Universidad Santiago de Cali(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2021) Rojas Scarpetta, Catherine; Ávila Grajales, Claudia Milena; Bedoya Arias, Wilmer Andrés (Director)Item Caracterización de biomateriales de tres casas comerciales para técnicas metal-free en tecnología CAD-CAM y análoga, una revisión de literatura rápida(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2020) Urrea Ramos, Luis Felipe; Angulo Carabali, Adriana Carolina; Moncayo Renza, Valentina; Bedoya Arias, Wilmer (Director)The growing development of dental biomaterials and the technologies applied to dental mechanics dentistry, advance vertiginously to the point that it becomes a confusion. The gingiva has a pale pink color and a smooth appearance that can be shiny or opaque when its keratinization decreases. Oral rehabilitation is linked to the patients' requirements, and concepts and criteria for the study of gingival tissue characterization are developed. Objective: To characterize the gingival tissue in a population between 17 and 25 years of age attending the Maxillofacial Radiology Center of the University of Santiago de Cali, in the period 2023. Methods: Descriptive study, taking photographic images with standardized parameters of the maxillary and mandibular anterior zone to identify the characteristics of the gingival tissue. Results: Conclusions: The patient's aesthetics does not depend only on the teeth but also on a compensation with the gingival space and the gum, and in this case being able to photographically identify the differences in the gums, the aesthetics at the time of applying in the study of the characterization of the gingival tissue. Keeping in mind that the gum also plays a role in carrying out the rehabilitation, it is required to have a natural nature of it, since each person has different features in the gingival tissue according to their characteristics. It is important to highlight that the gingival tissue changes and has different features depending on each person. This requires great importance in terms of oral rehabilitation as in dentistry, whether a patient has healthy gums or, on the contrary, if he is a patient who requires oral rehabilitation to identify not only the shape and characteristics of your teeth but also your gums according to the soft tissues that surround them.Item Caracterización sociodemográfica y académica de los estudiantes del programa de Tecnología en Mecánica Dental de la Universidad Santiago de Cali en el periodo 2022B-2023A(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Tascón Ocampo, Alejandro; Gutiérrez Herrera, Nicole Andrea; Higuita Vélez, Linda Juliana; Sánchez Arteaga, Claudia Patricia (Directora)Item Caracterización sociodemográfica y laboral de los egresados del programa Tecnología en Mecánica Dental de la Universidad Santiago de Cali entre los años 2011 a 2021(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2021) Villalva Hurtado, Elizabeth Yuleidy; Sánchez Arteaga, Claudia Patricia (Directora)The sociodemographic and labor survey refers to the general characteristics of a population, being a tool that allows us to collect information about aspects that we want to know about a population group, in this case, knowing the information of the graduates of Dental Mechanics Technology from the Santiago de Cali University, this in order to investigate the current status of each of them from the year 2011 to the year 2021. Therefore, this research aims to carry out an analysis of the sociodemographic characteristics of each graduate, their level of satisfaction with the program, their opinion about the teaching staff and the way they learned during the 6 semesters. Taking into account the above, it is important to highlight that these surveys are instruments and sources of data generally used for knowledge of aspects in the population to be treated necessary to analyze the evolution that Dental Mechanics Technology has had in terms of its academic training. teaching, job opportunities, socioeconomic status and extension. The academic performance of the students is associated with gender and the maintenance of studies, with female students being the ones who present a higher academic performance. In this case, Dental Mechanics Technology is based mostly on the manual part, since this branch handles the indirect technique with the patient, therefore, women have greater skill and ability to perform dental appliances. Also, quality of life plays an important role due to the individual's appreciation of their own life and satisfaction with their current level of functioning compared to what they perceive as possible or ideal. Studies are an opportunity for the health, well-being and quality of life of the student.Item Carillas en resina compuesta vs carillas en porcelana(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2021) Montoya Botina, Angela María; Bedoya Arias, Wilmer Bedoya (Director)Item Causas más significativas de la contaminación de la cerámica libre de metal por agentes contaminantes en suspensión en el aire(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Girón Betancourt, Lilia Yiseth; Pertuz Olier, Beatriz Elena (Directora)The reason is that the surface of the ceramic is already molten and the liquid and air inside can no longer escape. Consequently, air bubbles and also modeling liquid bubbles remain inside the material. Within the dental laboratory, it is evident that the main causes of contamination are particles of contaminating agents suspended in the air, residue from grinding stones, or cleaning sand, and surface contamination by biological agents. Contamination occurs basically due to lack of control tools in the work environment, lack of independence in areas and lack of observation in manufacturing protocols.Item Cerómeros(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Córdoba Idrobo, Luisa Fernanda; Solarte León, Jhuleydi Daniela; Azcarate Ramírez, María del Mar; Bedoya Ocampo, Yessica (Directora)Item Comparación de la porosidad entre acrílicos polimerizados por técnica de microondas y técnica de calor húmedo (convencional)(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Moreno Narvaez, Alvaro Jose; Caballero Herrera, Jhon Edinson; Dossman Girlado, Daniela Fernanda; Valencia Llanos, Carlos Humberto (Director); Rosales Basto, Alejandra (Directora)Item Conocimiento de los estudiantes del programa de tecnología en mecánica dental, sobre el manejo de residuos sólidos(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Meléndez Ojeda, Narly Dayana; Zuluaga Rayo, Liseth; Rosales Basto, Alejandra (Directora)Proper management of solid waste in dental laboratories is essential to minimize its environmental impact and protect public health. This study evaluates the level of knowledge that students in the Dental Mechanics Technology program at Universidad Santiago de Cali have regarding the classification and organization of this waste. A descriptive study with a qualitative approach was conducted, using surveys designed for students in the fourth, fifth, and sixth semesters. The results indicate that, although students have a basic understanding of the waste generated in the laboratory, there is significant lack of knowledge regarding the regulations and appropriate procedures for its management and final disposal. Based on these findings, it is recommended to strengthen academic training in environmental and health regulations, implement practical training sessions, and develop an instructional manual to improve waste management in dental laboratories.Item Consideraciones técnicas en el proceso de elaboración de prótesis hibridas.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Hurtado Velandia, Jeison Steven; Toro Espinosa, Duvan Andrés; Sánchez Arteaga, Claudia Patricia (Directora)The process of creating an overdenture is complex and requires a series of technical considerations to guarantee success. Below is a summary of some things to consider: 1. Selection of the appropriate material: It is essential to choose a high-quality material that is compatible with the patient's oral anatomy. This includes choosing the appropriate metal alloy for the internal structure of the prosthesis, as well as plastic or ceramic for the visible part. 2. Accurate impression: Accurate impression is important to ensure a good fit of the overdenture. High-quality impression techniques, such as digital impressions or silicone impression materials, should be used to accurately capture the shape and size of the patient's mouth. 3. Detailed digital design: In many cases, the design of the overdenture is done digitally using CAD/CAM software. It is important that this design be detailed and precise to ensure a perfect fit and aesthetic satisfaction. 4. Final fit and finish: Once the overdenture is fabricated, a precise fit is required to ensure a comfortable fit and natural appearance. This may include bite adjustments, surface polishing, and staining to match the patient's natural teeth. 5. Quality control: Strict quality control must be carried out at all stages of the manufacturing process to ensure that the prosthesis meets the required quality and safety standards. This may involve stress testing, aesthetic evaluation, and final fit verification. In summary, technical considerations in the overdenture manufacturing process include proper material selection, accurate impression taking, detailed digital design, careful fabrication, fit and finish, as well as strict quality control. These considerations are essential to ensure clinical success and patient satisfaction with the final prosthesis.
