This is why, once hypertensive patients are detected, it is important that they enter a program to follow up and control tension figures to prevent complications. Objective: To identify the causal factors of absence to a control program of arterial hypertension. Results: Forgetfulness was found to be the main reason for no-show in the Arterial hypertension program (30.8%); perceiving that the means used by the institution to remember appointments are insufficient (52.6%); feel good, they never stop attending their control appointments (68.6%), and the geographic location of the house to the hospital does not make it difficult for them to attend scheduled appointments (69.9%). Discussion: no-show is an indicator that affects the quality of health care programs, this study found that 68.3% have ever stopped attending their control appointments; oblivion was the main cause of no-show (30.8%) factors such as the socio-economic, geographical, institutional factor that the institution should implement strategies to remember scheduled appointments.
