Item Síntesis por catálisis ácida del dietil acetal del hidroxicitronelal, helional y lilial, para la aplicación en fragancias como protector de grupos carbonilo(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2021) Martínez Valdés, Jhared Eduardo; Camayo Quintana, Juan David; López Parra, Lizbeth Lorena (Directora)Aldehydes and ketones, due to their great reactivity, are the most widely used functional groups in organic synthesis, the conversion to acetals has an impact on the olfactory characteristics of fragrances, some of these have high prices and cause an increase in the costs of manufacture of finished products, hydroxycitronellal, helional and lilial acetals were synthesized with ethanol, with a formation percentage of 98.5, 98.3 and 98.2% respectively. The aldehyde / alcohol ratio, the reaction time, the type of acid (sulfuric, nitric and hydrochloric) and the acid load were evaluated. Finally, the reaction products formed were identified and quantified by means of gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. The acetals were compared with the raw materials used in the industry and the cost-benefit ratio of the use of synthesized acetals was compared, finding a saving of over 60%.
