Propuesta de mejora en la prestación del servicio de recolección y transporte en una empresa del sector de gestión de residuos peligrosos

The management of hazardous waste represents a significant challenge for public health and the environment in various regions of the world. As the generation of these wastes increases, it becomes imperative to implement effective strategies that minimize their negative impact. For this reason, the challenges in planning and executing hazardous waste collection and transportation services in a company in the sector are addressed. Despite the use of outsourced services (3PL), the company faces an 11% deviation between scheduled and executed services, resulting in additional operational costs and affecting its reputation. Through data collection and the application of the Pareto technique, the main causes of these deviations are identified, with 57% represented by five causes (Cubicaje, service cancellation, arrival time, lack of forklifts, and vehicle issues). A methodology is proposed through the PDCA cycle to improve service effectiveness, which primarily includes the definition of the objective to improve the current compliance percentage by 10%. This will be achieved through data collection, analysis, and the establishment of corrective activities.
