This is why the Ministry of Health affirms that youth motherhood has a greater representation in poor communities, reproduces the cycle of poverty and has as a consequence for society a high loss of population with possibilities of education and productivity, which ultimately affects social exclusion. Our study is quantitative with a descriptive observational approach, whose purpose was to identify the knowledge and use of contraceptive methods in adolescents of the tenth and eleventh grade in the morning session of a public institution in Santiago de Cali, for the collection of the information a validated Auto-administered survey was used. With which we obtained the following results, a large percentage of adolescents that corresponds to 51.4% said they know the different methods of contraception while 48.6% are in error and have a wrong knowledge, as to the use of them there are different perceptions and answer what makes us see that what is said is not congruent with what is practiced in the daily life of adolescents. That is why we emphasize that there is a problem of ignorance and use, which responds to our research.Item Cuidado de la persona autista desde la mirada de las teoristas del cuidado humanizado Kathryn Barnard y Jean Watson(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Burbano Samboni, Selene; Enríquez Popayán, Angélica María; Paz Urrea, Yuliana Andrea; Rivera Romero, Viviana (Directora)Objective: This study aims to recognize the nursing approach in the care of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), based on the theories of Kathryn Barnard and Jean Watson, in order to improve the care provided to this vulnerable population. Most belonged to a middle socioeconomic level, with 34.7% earning between one and two minimum wages. Clinically, 43% were overweight, and 48% had grade I or II hypertension. Dietary patterns revealed excessive intake of flour-based products, legumes, dairy, miscellaneous items, and fats, with 100% showing inadequate fat consumption. Only 23.1% had an adequate nutritional status. The study identifies a correlation between the consumption of meats and legumes, body mass index, and systolic blood pressure, although the estimated 10-year cardiovascular event risk remains low at 1%.Item Terapias complementarias en pacientes con cuidados paliativos, no oncológicos, desde la atención primaria en salud.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Velasco Noguera, Karen Vanesa; Muñoz Quiñones, Marelyn Dayana; Ruiz Ramírez, Isabella; Rivera Romero, Viviana (Directora)Palliative care provided in primary care, have positive results in terms of improving quality of life, reducing hospitalizations and health costs for patients with chronic diseases. Thus, cancer pain has a multifactorial etiology and can occur in very different clinical contexts, which is why it requires the use of different strategies. The objective of this article was to analyze the perception of nursing professionals regarding pain management in pediatric oncology patients according to a methodology that was based on a systematic review, taking into account the PRISMA protocol. The search for articles is carried out in the databases PubMed, ScoPus, Science Direct. Where DeCS and MeSH terms were used. Results: Among the intervention factors, the following aspects affect pain management; Specific training, Work experience, Pain management protocol, Level of knowledge, Physical signs, Scales, Personal, Family, Environmental. Like protective factors, there are also barriers that can limit or alter the efficient management of pain management that the nursing professional can carry out, where it is found from the professional assessment and from the organization. On the other hand, the nursing professional specialized in pediatrics shows that pain management is a highly complex issue, requiring intuitive, technical and clinical knowledge. The use of mechanisms and/or tools for pain management is essential for adequate management in this process. Within the review of articles, it is evident that the evaluation is carried out with validated scales, highlighting the following: FLACC, EVA and EVS, whose choice varies depending on the age of the person. Conclusions: In the management of pain in pediatric oncology patients, different sociocultural factors intervene that modulate the perception of pain, as well as the intensity, frequency of pain, and factors specific to the child, integrating the capacity of health personnel, vision of parents, environmental and organizational factors.
