(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Alpala Ayala, Lilian Fernanda; Cortez Lasso, Yeisi Lorena; Paguay Chaves, Dayanit Marcela; Ospina Uribe, Martha Cecilia (Directora); Zambreno Bermeo, Rosa Nury (Directora)
Breastfeeding is considered the best source of nutrition for infants, whether exclusive during the first six months of life or complemented with other foods for at least the first two years. Numerous scientific societies around the world, such as the World Health Organization or the American Association of Pediatricians, the Spanish Association of Pediatrics, support this position. This study seeks to determine the knowledge and attitudes regarding breastfeeding in students in the last semesters of the nursing program at a private university in Cali – Valle. The application of the CAPA instrument was carried out, which consists of 24 closed questions with answers on a nominal scale ranging from completely disagree to completely agree. By identifying competencies in professionals, it can contribute to improving their knowledge and attitudes to promote effective breastfeeding. It was applied to students from the last semesters. In all cases, after the analysis of variance of attitude and knowledge questions, it is evident that the students of the ninth and tenth semesters have a higher score in relation to the score obtained with the students of the eighth semester, but there are no differences between the average of the tenth grade students in relation to the average of the ninth grade students. All professionals with direct responsibility for motherchild care play an important role in the establishment and duration of breastfeeding. The lack of knowledge and attitudes in BF among health professionals, together with unfavorable attitudes, can negatively influence the initiation and maintenance of BF. Improvements in the training of professionals and the structuring of appropriate care in health institutions have proven effective in improving the prevalence and average duration of breastfeeding, in addition to increasing satisfaction rates and improving the effective use of resources.

Neonatal jaundice is a nursing diagnosis, considered by the NANDA (North American Nursing Diagnosis Association) as the yellow-orange coloration of the skin and mucous membranes of the newborn that appears at 24 hours of life as a result of the presence of bilirubin not conjugated in blood (00194). Hyperbilirubinemia continues to be a common pathology in newborns and one of the main causes of admission to neonatal units during the first week of life, with Kernicterus being the most serious complication (1). The nursing professional as health personnel has an important role in the care of the NB and/or with jaundice; constituting one of the main figures in the management of the different phototherapy techniques, administration of prescribed medication, support to the parents of the NB, control of signs and symptoms of the NB and to prevent and/or detect early the possible complications that may appear after the treatment (1) Methodologically, a bibliographic review is carried out by searching scientific databases, where 100 studies published in English and Spanish between the years 2015-2022 with a quantitative, qualitative, quasi-experimental, descriptive, observational, retrospective and case study design were included. of which 45 met the inclusion and exclusion criteria; A critical reading of the title and the summary was carried out based on the CASPE scale, the articles were selected through the PRISMA flowchart, later the findings are compared through a database created by the students in the Microsoft Excel program, where the evaluation, analysis and interpretation of the results were carried out, in order to provide the existing information regarding nursing care in neonatal jaundice. Within the articles chosen in the literature, those related to: phototherapy in 60%, nursing care with other complementary methods 20%, cultural care 9%, home care 4% and care described by NANDA (North American Nursing Diagnosis Association) in 7%.

Peripheral insertion central venous catheter (PICC) is a venous access device, which is introduced into the body through a vein in the upper arm. The end of the catheter ends in a large vein near the heart. The use of which has increased in recent years. It can be inserted by qualified nursing staff using a blind technique or with the help of ultrasound. Objective: To identify nursing care in patients with peripheral central venous catheter. Methodology: A bibliographic study was carried out through four important stages. In the first stage, the evaluation of the articles was carried out in the databases Scopus, Pub Med, Sage Journals, Springer, Science Direct, OXFORD, Dialnet, Clarivate and Mendeley taking into account the guiding question, objective, inclusion and exclusion criteria. At the same time, the researchers developed an Excel database to organize the articles. In the second phase, with the help of STROBE, criteria for the selection of articles in the Excel database were executed. In the third and fourth phases, the prism methodology was used. 60 articles were included whose titles and summaries corresponded to the theme and finally, after the critical analysis, 16 articles were considered.

(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Reyes Palacios, Alejandra; Rico Jiménez, Javier Alfonso; Sinisterra Rivera, Maicol; Ospina Uribe, Martha Cecilia (Directora)
Introduction: Simian smallpox is one of the most prevalent zoonotic diseases in humans after the eradication of smallpox, this is characterized by the presence of skin lesions, resembling pimples or blisters, febrile states, swollen lymph nodes and joint and muscle pain. Regarding its transmission, it is determined by the bite or direct contact with blood, meat, body fluids or cutaneous/mucosal lesions of an infected animal or person. Objective: To describe the main nursing care in patients with monkeypox according to the available literature. Methodology: A scoping review was performed using the PRISMA method. Results: 8 scientific articles were reviewed, which allowed determining that among the main nursing care in patients with monkeypox are those related to patient isolation and control of the spread of infection; monitoring of vital signs, protection of skin and compromised mucous membranes; patient hydration and nutritional support; prevention of stigma and discrimination; and prevention of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI). Conclusion: The findings of this review allow us to conclude that nursing care of patients with monkeypox should include a variety of processes oriented to comprehensive and humanized patient care, ranging from patient isolation to the prevention of HCAI, which allows us to demonstrate that all nursing care, focused on disease control and patient recovery, serves as a fundamental support for the approach to monkeypox.

(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Velasco Viafara, Jennifer; Banguero Uzuriaga , Ingrid Vanessa; León Carabali, Patricia; Ospina Uribe, Martha Cecilia (Directora)
Background: the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the 10-year plan for breastfeeding and complementary feeding 2021-2030 recommend that mothers provide exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) minimum up to 6 months and supplemented with other foods at least 2 years of life of the newborn, this goal is not met in a large number of adolescent mothers. Objective: to analyse the available scientific evidence on the factors that influence breastfeeding practice among adolescent mothers. Methodology: a literature review of the literature was carried out in three databases: PubMed, Scielo and ScienceDirect between the years 2012 - 2022, using the PRISMA guidelines. Twenty-nine articles were identified that met the selection criteria. Results: four categories of risk factors (demographic, socio-cultural, personal and physiological) were identified within the selected literature, where demographic and socio-cultural aspects are the most influential on breastfeeding (BF). Therefore, some of the factors are the opinion of family members and partners, economic conditions, academic level, support from health professionals, household responsibilities, lack of time for breastfeeding, among others. Conclusions: Age is identified as an influential factor, given that adolescent mothers lack the appropriate maturity to cope with the various changes that pregnancy brings about. Consequently, the prevalence of breastfeeding in adolescents is low, and it is essential that pregnant women have family, social and professional support to guide them in the practice of exclusive breastfeeding.

(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Chaparro Rincón, Kevin; Cruz Balanta, María de los Ángeles; Muñoz Riascos, Karen Liliana; Ospina Uribe, Martha Cecilia (Directora)
Breastfeeding (BF) is known worldwide for providing appropriate nutritional support for the growth and development of children under two years of age. The promotion of the breastfeeding process is a public policy that governments implement to promote, protect and support this practice in the population, due to the multiple and important benefits it provides for the health of the child and the mother, as well as for the economy and the environment. Within the current public policies are the sustainable development goals, in the objective one and four, ten-year plan of BF 2021-2030 "route for the nutrition of our children, a path of love", however, there are different limitations in the breastfeeding process, among them, economic, social, cultural aspects, maternal health conditions, as there is also evidence and manifestations of breastfeeding mothers, with a history of mammoplasty that refer limitations when breastfeeding. There is concern that breast implants may affect a woman's ability to breastfeed her baby. Although some studies have found a decrease in milk production in women with breast implants, other studies have not found any significant difference in breastfeeding between women with and without implants; taking into account the objective of the systematic review seeks to identify the scientific evidence on the limitations of BF in mothers with mammoplasty, a search was carried out in the databases "Scopus", "PubMed", where articles were selected that met the following eligibility characteristics: full text and easily accessible, English, Portuguese or Spanish, published in the last ten years, case series type studies and randomized controlled clinical trials, finally, 10 scientific articles were selected. By means of the PICOT methodology as an instrument for the systematic review, it was possible to establish in an organized and efficient way the categories found to generate results on the available information, three aspects that can limit the LM were considered, which are described in the results and discussion; type of incision, type of implant and other causes.

Taking into account that the graduation rate and its factors related to successful completion are relevant issues to guarantee the improvement of the quality, relevance, efficiency, and effectiveness of higher education institutions (HEIs). The central purpose of this research is to analyze the available scientific evidence on the graduation rate and factors related to successful completion, in order to provide important information that allows HEIs to implement strategies that intervene in the factors in a positive way that lead to increased student retention and graduation rates. For this, a systematic review was carried out. The pubmed, Medline, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Springer, Taylor and Francis, and Google Scholar databases were used. Uncontrolled terms in Spanish, English and Portuguese were used for the search, since there are still no standardized health descriptors in the subject, these were: "graduation rate", "university student graduation", "graduation time". After the rigor evaluation, 9 articles were chosen for the comprehensive analysis and inclusion in the study. Two macro categories were identified, which are: factors related to successful completion and strategies that promote an increase in the graduation rate, these being the most influential to a greater extent with the problem raised.
