To present the advantages of the use of the cervical collar in the out-of-hospital management of cervical trauma in pediatric patients described in the literature. Materials and methods. A review of scope based on the prism methodology for the coding of articles, extracting the information from a PPC (Population, Concept and Context) question. Results. At least 70% of the articles consulted mention the frequency of the use of cervical immobilizer in pediatric patients from 0 to 18 years of age, in order to reduce the adjacent complications of spinal trauma at cervical level; sequelae such as; autonomic dysregulation, scoliosis, spasticity and contractures, deep vein thrombosis or emotional problems related to the decrease in the quality of life. Conclusion. According to the sources consulted, the use of the cervical collar is recommended taking into account factors such as age, which will depend on the maturity of the child's anatomical structures and the mechanism of injury in the accident, to decide whether or not the use of the immobilizer is required, as well as the competencies and skills of the health care provider on the proper positioning of the device to avoid further aggravating the injury and complications arising; which means that the cervical collar is a support for prehospital personnel to reduce the unexpected results derived from the trauma.
