Item Caracterización molecular de betalactamasas de espectro extendido (BLEE) en cepas de Escherichia coli extraintestinal (ExPEC) aisladas de centros hospitalarios en la ciudad de Cusco – Perú.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) González Quiroz, Laura Andrea; Gómez Moreno, Carlos Alberto; Del Socorro Correa Bermúdez, Adriana María; Aguilar Ancori, Elsa GladysThe increase of extraintestinal Escherichia coli (ExPEC) producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL) has generated the need to use broad-spectrum antibiotics for their treatment. In Perú, the presence of bacteria carrying ESBL is a public health problem and studies have been carried out especially in Lima and little is known about ExPEC-ESBL in Cusco. Therefore, the aim of the study was the characterization of ESBL in ExPEC-ESBL isolates and their phylogenetic groups in hospitals in Cusco. Seventy ExPEC-ESBL isolates were analyzed for the identification of blaTEM, blaCTX-M, blaSHV genes and for phylogenetic groups (A-D), using the polymerase chain reaction. The results indicated higher proportions of co-expression between blaTEM and blaCTX-M (34%) and in phylogenetic group B2 (51%) recognized as highly virulent clones. Additionally, a correlation between BLEE genes and the different phylogenetic groups was identified (p-value = 0.0099). These results allow us to broaden our knowledge of the epidemiology of ExPEC-BLEE in Cusco
