In the field of high-complexity medical care, particularly within Intensive Care Units (ICUs), inspiratory muscle training (IMT) emerges as a cornerstone in respiratory therapy. This approach not only aims to optimize the pulmonary and respiratory function of critically ill patients but also to prevent potential complications arising from prolonged inactivity, such as muscle atrophy and respiratory dysfunction (1). The relevance of these interventions in contemporary clinical practice underscores the imperative need to understand the practices of specialized respiratory care personnel regarding the prescription of IMT, using instruments that are reliable, effective, and valid. The present research proposes to review the validity and reliability of the adaptation of the "Survey of Use of Inspiratory Muscle Training in Patients on Mechanical Ventilation" designed by Bonnavie T (2), with the aim of ensuring that the instrument can provide findings on the practices of respiratory caregivers in prescribing inspiratory muscle training (IMT) to adult patients with invasive ventilatory support in ICUs in Colombia. Given that the reliability and accuracy of a research instrument reinforce the researcher's responsibility to present an authentic representation of the participants' experiences in a study, the validation of the instrument in question becomes a critical link to ensure that the results obtained reliably reflect the behaviors of professionals regarding the prescription of IMT in adult patients with ventilatory support in ICUs. This strengthens the foundations of clinical practices, ensuring that the measurements are consistent and accurately reflect the forms of prescription and, therefore, the impact of the therapies applied.Through a rigorous methodological design, the aim is to evaluate the reliability, validity, and form to confirm its applicability and effectiveness in this specific population, using two strategies: expert judgment and a pilot test. The expected findings from this research promise to significantly contribute to the development of evidence-based training protocols, thus contributing to the continuous improvement of the quality of care and the well-being of critically ill patients in intensive care settings. Expected results: The main result will be to determine the validity and reliability of the study instrument, its use, and its statistical evaluation of variables, concerning the prescription of IMT in the Intensive Care Unit in adult patients with invasive ventilatory support
