Venezuelan migrants, seeking to improve their quality of life, have faced difficulties due to the crisis in their country. The large influx of migrants to Colombia has generated tensions and xenophobia; therefore, addressing mental health becomes important. In this case, the focus is on Lucia, a 22-year-old migrant. The strategy to mitigate the negative impact on Lucia's mental health is artistic mediation as a method of community support, providing her with an emotional outlet and promoting social inclusion. This approach strengthens her skills to integrate into community life in Colombia, thus promoting her psychological well-being and mental health. The objective is to contribute to the understanding of how artistic mediation supports the development of resilience in migrants and contributes to their mental health. A qualitative methodology was used, based on life history and interviews, with an inductive approach to identify categories such as experiences generating emotional distress, coping strategies, social skills, social acceptance, and resilience.Item Desarrollo de habilidades sociales en una niña con Síndrome de Down a través de la equinoterapia(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Blandón Henao, María Camila; Estupiñán Salas, Karen Gisel; Tamayo Montoya, Paula Andrea (Directora)Item Expectativa de cuidadores frente al desarrollo de habilidades sociales de personas con discapacidad cognitiva, que participan en actividades de mediación artística(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Martínez Padilla, Dayana Geraldinne; Pacheco Santacruz, Daniela; Zuluaga Piedrahita, Valentina; Tamayo Montoya, Paula Andrea (Directora)Caregivers of individuals with cognitive disabilities face daily challenges related to long-term mental, intellectual, physical, or sensory difficulties and the barriers that hinder the social and community participation of those they care for. Artistic mediations represent a community-based strategy to facilitate the inclusion of individuals with cognitive disabilities. The Fine Arts Inclusion Labs at Bellas Artes Institución Universitaria del Valle provide a space that fosters the inclusion of these individuals through the use of artistic mediation as a means to strengthen social bonds and promote community self-care. In the field of community psychology, these strategies are of great interest, as their recognition could contribute to the future development of a community-based primary mental health care model with a differential approach for people with disabilities. However, the expectations that caregivers place on these strategies are concerning. With the aim of identifying caregivers' expectations regarding the development of social skills in individuals with cognitive disabilities participating in artistic mediation activities, a qualitative study with a social-community approach was conducted. The study used a case study method and included a sample of five caregivers of individuals with cognitive disabilities who gave their consent for the realization and publication of this study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted for data production, which were recorded and transcribed. Data analysis was conducted inductively based on the narratives generated in the interviews. The results indicated that caregivers' expectations can be both realistic and unrealistic. Caregivers base their realistic expectations on evidence that artistic mediations help the individuals under their care manage their emotions, improve communication and share inclusive spaces. Unrealistic expectations are related to the hope that individuals with severe and profound cognitive disabilities will achieve independent living.Item Foto voz: la fotografía, herramienta mediadora artística en la salud mental del pueblo negro del norte del Cauca(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Ramos Angola, Leidy Tatiana; Tamayo Montoya, Paula Andrea (Directora)This document systematizes the intervention that, from the practice of Community Psychology, from the diploma in Art Mediation for the promotion of community mental health, and the exercise called "Fotovoz," which was developed extracurricularly by the student LEIDY TATIANA RAMOS ANGOLA, through which processes of managing emotions, thoughts, and feelings of individuals and the community in the northern region of the Cauca department, specifically in “La Dominga” and “San Miguel”villages in the municipalities of Suarez and Guachené respectively.
