Item Identidades en la sombra: Experiencias de personas LGBTIQ+ en las familias tradicionales de la comuna 6 de la ciudad de Cali-Valle" bajo la modalidad de Investigación - Artículo científico(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025) Loaiza Marroquín, Camila; Tabares Barrera, Janna Michell; Gil Claros, María Fernanda (Directora)In the context of traditional family structures, this research examines the experiences of LGBTIQ+ individuals living in Cali's Comuna 6, focusing on the construction of their identities within the family unit. The study adopts a critical understanding of patriarchy and views the family as a normative space where symbolic and physical violence is enacted against those who diverge from gender binarism and compulsory heterosexuality. Through a qualitative, interpretative approach using the phenomenological method, life stories were collected through in-depth interviews to explore the tensions, resistance, and identity-affirmation processes experienced in these settings. Drawing from interdisciplinary frameworks by authors such as Butler, Foucault, and Carballeda, the study explores how gender, otherness, and recognition shape the subjectivity of LGBTIQ+ individuals, revealing that partial acceptance, silence, and censorship act as exclusionary mechanisms. The findings indicate that for many LGBTIQ+ people, the family is not a safe space but rather a site of symbolic struggle where identity is negotiated amidst ambivalent affections, imposed norms, and structural exclusion. This work underscores the urgent need for Social Work interventions that foster inclusive family environments and public policies grounded in dignity, equity, and diversity.
