Item Relación de alimentación y enfermedades cardiovasculares en habitantes del municipio de Palmira 2021-2022(2022) Martínez lozano, Daniela; Ruiz Estrada, Sol Jhohana; Suarez Cruz, Alexandra; Rivera Romero, Viviana (Directora)This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and cardiovascular diseases in residents aged 51 to 64 from the municipality of Palmira during 2021. It follows a quantitative, descriptive-correlational, and cross-sectional design, using simple random sampling. Sociodemographic characteristics, food consumption frequency, and cardiovascular risk were assessed through the Framingham questionnaire. A total of 121 participants completed the study, with a mean age of 56.12 years; 36.4% were men and 62% women. Most belonged to a middle socioeconomic level, with 34.7% earning between one and two minimum wages. Clinically, 43% were overweight, and 48% had grade I or II hypertension. Dietary patterns revealed excessive intake of flour-based products, legumes, dairy, miscellaneous items, and fats, with 100% showing inadequate fat consumption. Only 23.1% had an adequate nutritional status. The study identifies a correlation between the consumption of meats and legumes, body mass index, and systolic blood pressure, although the estimated 10-year cardiovascular event risk remains low at 1%.
