Item Estrategias de lectura en inglés y su impacto en el proceso de comprensión lectora en lengua extranjera: Una revisión sistemática(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Solarte Roa, Antony; Paz Ortiz, Leidy Johanna; Restrepo Bonell, Lina Susana (Director)The following article presents a systematic literature review about implementing reading strategies in English as a Foreign Language, in order to improve secondary students’ reading comprehension, especially whose first language is Spanish. On the basis of a systematic review methodology from the Prisma Declaration as guide for this study, more than fifty studies were compiled and later ,through an analysis matrix focused on qualitative data, a deep reflection based on the stated objectives was made. It was found that a large number of cognitive and metacognitive reading strategies are based on previous knowledge recall to anticipate and/or predict information on a text, identifying intertextual connections and problem-solving. Finally, it is established that the use of cognitive strategies showed higher efficacy while doing similar exercises to standardized test meanwhile the metacognitive type of strategies reinforced joy and interest in reading. In the same way, it is concluded that it’s pertinent the proposal of defined criteria when approaching reading strategies which can contribute to its comprehension in the practice of English as a Foreign Language.
