The main function of this fluid is to decrease the surface tension at the air-liquid interface of the alveolus, preventing the lungs from collapsing during respiration. To prevent complications in the premature newborn with respiratory distress syndrome, this substance is administered by a minimally invasive technique. Therefore, the objective of this work is to identify the technique used in the administration of surfactant in newborns of what age in what period. The methodology constitutes a monograph review of the literature of the last five years.
