Item La hidratación en la práctica del ciclismo según la evidencia científica(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Boya Grueso, Lider Fernando; Caiza Meneses, Brayan Geovanny; Moreno Moreno, Pedro Angel; Rivera Hurtado, Ferney (Director)Before, during, and after the practice of physical-sporting activity of cycling, hydration is a limiting factor of sports performance, and, therefore, proper hydration has benefits for the health and performance of athletes. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the hydroelectrolytic needs and fluid replacement protocol in the athlete. This article aims to establish the hydro electrolyte needs in sports and to propose a practical hydration protocol for physical exercise. A review was carried out in Pubmed, SportDiscus, and, in addition to using a strategy. The article attempts to provide current knowledge on the role of hydration in the sport of cycling. Athletes need to be well hydrated and when exercising in hot, hyperhydrated environments, clear urine can be a good indicator of this. During cycling sports, isotonic drinks should be drunk, containing a mixture of simple and slow absorption sugars, as well as sodium, and maintain a temperature between 10-20ºC to facilitate gastric emptying. The post-exertion rehydration should be about 150-200% of the weight lost during the post-competition training.
