    Niveles de ansiedad y depresión en estudiantes de ciencias de la salud que usan dispositivos móviles.

    Introduction: The purpose of this study was to establish the levels of anxiety and depression in students of health sciences who use mobile devices at the Santiago de Cali University, during 2020. Methodology: An observational, cross-sectional study was conducted, Analytical, carried out on university students of the Faculty of Health of the Santiago de Cali University, in the city of Cali (Colombia), with a universe (N) of 4,194 students. The sample size calculation indicated a total of 352 students (95% CI, 5% error). The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Test (STAI) was used. The Beck Scale was used to obtain the results of depression. Results: 334 students from eight professional careers offered by the health faculty were interviewed. Most of the participants were women. The predominant marital status was single, in proportions of 85% or higher, which contrasts with only 8.1% of students living with a partner. 27% of the students reside in socioeconomic strata 1 and 2. The highest proportion of the high anxiety level was from the Nursing and Medicine program with 21% (n = 69) and 17% (n = 56) respectively and the lowest proportion was Psychology and Respiratory Therapy with 8% (n = 27) each. In the first two years of career, 50% (n = 168) of the population presented high levels of anxiety. The examined women showed in 89% and the men in 83.5% of Minimal depression. Conclusion: The new information technologies have a great influence on adolescents, as shown by the data from the present study, where students in the first semesters are more affected than those from higher levels, and where they show greater characteristics of symptoms. anxious and in many situations depressive states causing behavioral maladjustments.
