Item Perfil cromatográfico y metabolómico de compuestos fenólicos en la palma de aceite (Elaeis guineensis): Revisión sistemática(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2025-12-10) Arboleda Jaramillo, Lizeth; Mosquera González, Sergio David (Director)This systematic review compiled and analyzed scientific evidence published between 2017 and 2025 on phenolic compounds and polyphenols present in Elaeis guineensis, focusing on their characterization using chromatographic and metabolomic techniques, as well as their relationship with antioxidant activity. A search of specialized databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Taylor & Francis allowed for the selection of 41 articles that met the established inclusion criteria. The results showed that the phenolic composition of oil palm varies according to plant tissue: the leaves are characterized by the presence of C-glycosylated flavonoids, the fruit by phenolic acids such as ferulic and p-coumaric acids, and lignocellulosic by-products by simple phenols with remarkable antioxidant capacity. Despite advances in analytical techniques such as LC–MS, GC–MS, and ^1H-NMR, limitations persist due to the lack of standardization in the methods of extraction, identification, and quantification of metabolites. In addition, stilbenoids remain an under-explored group, despite their relevance within phenylpropanoid metabolism. There is a clear need to integrate high-resolution chromatographic and metabolomic methodologies, together with multivariate analysis, to establish more robust correlations between chemical profiles and bioactivity.Taken together, the findings confirm the potential of E. guineensis as a source of natural antioxidants and promote its comprehensive use within a circular economy approach.
