Item Obtención y caracterización de polímeros de coordinación a partir de metales lantánidos, el ligando ácido 1,3-fenildiacético (principal) y los ligandos 1,10-fenantrolina y 4,4-bipiridina (auxiliares) con posibles aplicaciones en sensores luminiscentes(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Arcila Giraldo, Jhan Carlos; Illicachi Romero, Luis Alberto (Director); Dávila Pastrana, Andrea (Directora)In this research the reactivity of the organic ligand 1,3-phenylenediacetic acid (PDA) towards metals of the lanthanide series (Ln3+: La3+, Pr3+, Sm3+, Tb3+, Gd3+ and Nd3+) was studied, including in the synthesis the auxiliary ligands 4,4-bipyridine (bpy) and 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen), to obtain coordination polymers. The solvothermal methodology was used for the synthesis of the complexes at a temperature of 160 °C varying the reaction times in order to obtain crystalline materials. As a result of the tests carried out using bpy as auxiliary ligand, two crystalline phases with general formulae [Ln2(PDA)3(H2O)2] and [Ln4(PDA)6(H2O)6] were obtained. The characterization of both crystalline phases was performed by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, finding that the phase [Ln2(PDA)3(H2O)2], is a previously reported crystalline phase, while the compounds [Ln4(PDA)6(H2O)6] are reported for the first time in this work. This new crystalline phase crystallizes in a triclinic system with a P-1 space group, with four metal centers, six PDA ligands and two water molecules per asymmetric unit. In the formation of these compounds, it was observed that the bpy ligand is not coordinated to the metal center, but acts as a template for the generation of the new crystalline phase. The synthesis of a family of compounds with the auxiliary ligand Phen was also carried out, obtaining a new family of coordination polymers of the proposed general formula [Ln2(PDA)3(Phen)2]H2O, which were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopic analysis and TGA-DSC thermal analysis. Through these analyses it was possible to determine that a new series of isostructural coordination polymers is present.
