Análisis jurídico político de la figura de la extradición en la Constitución Colombiana

The figure of extradition in Colombia has two dimensions: political and legal. Both dimensions make it possible that, at present, nationals who are required by a State to appear before a judge or to serve a sentence are surrendered. This fact generates a series of criticisms, from academia and judicial tribunals, which will be analyzed in the light of the principles enshrined in the Political Constitution of 1991. The above with the objective of analyzing, legally and politically, this tool in the light of the mentioned principles. In that order of ideas, as a general conclusion it was obtained that the figure of extradition, in practice, has become a political tool that has been sustained by a series of norms promoted by the governments in turn and approved by a legislator (congress) not very critical.
