Item Importancia del cuidado de enfermería en el paciente adulto con catéter para nutrición parenteral(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) González Toro, Fiorella Stephania; Ochoa Obando, Sofía; Salamando Gil, Danelly; Sanclemente Angrino, Katherine (Directora); Zambrano Bermeo, Rosa Nury (Codirectora)The aim of this study is to analyze nursing care in the management and maintenance of catheters used for parenteral nutrition in adult patients. A scoping review of the literature was conducted using the PRISMA methodology and the PICO framework, consulting databases such as PubMed, SAGE Journals, ScienceDirect, and Scielo. The search included studies published between 2019 and 2024 in both Spanish and English, selecting 20 articles that met the inclusion criteria. Most of the studies come from Spain (30%), Japan (15%), and the United States (15%). The findings confirm that parenteral nutrition is essential for patients with difficulties receiving nutrition through conventional means, such as those with intestinal failure or following digestive surgeries. Effective management depends on a multidisciplinary approach and strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent complications. The nursing role includes not only clinical management of the catheter but also education, emotional support, and continuous monitoring of complications, ensuring comprehensive and personalized care.
