Item Violencia infantil, un problema multidimensional(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Vidal, Yesid; Gaviria, Jinneth (Director)Introduction Child violence is a complex and multifaceted problem that affects millions of children and adolescents in Colombia and around the world. This essay seeks to examineviolence from three critical perspectives: that of the child, that of the parents, and that of society. Through the analysis of psychology, sociology, policies, and studies, it seeksto understand the causes and consequences of this phenomenon in order to propose strategies for its mitigation.Childhood, as the focus of violence, suffers profound traumas that can transcend and transform a victim into an aggressor throughout life. Abuse psychologically impactschildren and young people in such a way that it can create repetitive patterns of violence in adulthood, creating a new cycle of violence. For children and adolescents, violence unleashes a full range of mental problems, ranging from depression to anxiety to post-traumatic stress, among others. Childrenandadolescents who suffer abuse often suffer from insecurities and self-esteem issues, which undermine their self-worth and self-confidence. This limits their interaction with their peers and society, and consequently their family and interpersonal relationships. In the school environment, children and adolescents who suffer abuse show significantly lower grades compared to their peers who do not suffer abuse. This is due to thestress that such abuse generates in the child, which ultimately affects their ability to concentrate and learn, affecting academic performance.
