Background: the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the 10-year plan for breastfeeding and complementary feeding 2021-2030 recommend that mothers provide exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) minimum up to 6 months and supplemented with other foods at least 2 years of life of the newborn, this goal is not met in a large number of adolescent mothers. Objective: to analyse the available scientific evidence on the factors that influence breastfeeding practice among adolescent mothers. Methodology: a literature review of the literature was carried out in three databases: PubMed, Scielo and ScienceDirect between the years 2012 - 2022, using the PRISMA guidelines. Twenty-nine articles were identified that met the selection criteria. Results: four categories of risk factors (demographic, socio-cultural, personal and physiological) were identified within the selected literature, where demographic and socio-cultural aspects are the most influential on breastfeeding (BF). Therefore, some of the factors are the opinion of family members and partners, economic conditions, academic level, support from health professionals, household responsibilities, lack of time for breastfeeding, among others. Conclusions: Age is identified as an influential factor, given that adolescent mothers lack the appropriate maturity to cope with the various changes that pregnancy brings about. Consequently, the prevalence of breastfeeding in adolescents is low, and it is essential that pregnant women have family, social and professional support to guide them in the practice of exclusive breastfeeding
