Item Uso del arco de plasma como alternativa de eliminación de residuos solidos(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2020) Velasco Semanate, Janeth Patricia; Vélez Idrobo, Jhon Alberto; Martínez Escobar, NathalyThe purpose of research is to present an alternative to minimize the environmental impact generated by the inadequate treatment of solid waste, since it is desired to avoid the search of sites or lots for the final disposal of waste, to protect the health of the people who live around final disposal centers, in addition to avoiding long displacements of vehicles for the transfer of the same. The investigation covers the case of the waste management of the city of Cali, where sites have been adapted for the final disposal of the waste, always reaching the same point (the assigned site is filled), so it is necessary to establish alternatives for improvement the same. It is proposed to use the plasma arc, which will avoid the process of burying or filling, converting this waste into energy. This creates two by-products: the first is a synthetic gas composed mainly of hydrogen and carbon monoxide which can be converted into a clean fuel. The second has an appearance of vitrified glass that can be used as an inert filler for the construction of roads, bricks or other uses. This transformation produces enough synthetic gas to provide the energy that the unit consumes, in addition to a surplus that could be sold directly, an option for this city that pays large fees for transport and storage of garbage.
