The epidemiological bulletin of Colombia, prematurity is the biggest cause of death between 2008 and 2018 with a higher risk of newborns under 1500 grams or intrauterine growth restriction. (14), it is important that nurses have a high level of knowledge regarding the method, which benefits the health status of an infant population by significantly helping to improve morbidity and mortality statistics and reduce costs in health institutions.
