In the country, endemic transmission is maintained in the areas that have historically presented the burden of this disease and little is known about the individual social determinants related to the disease. The study aimed to analyze factors associated with the transmission of the Plasmodium vivax parasite in malaria-endemic areas. 50 samples collected in 2016 in the Tierralta department of Cordoba were diagnosed with coarse drop. In gametocyte count it was associated with individual and parasitic socio economics determinants through wilcoxon tests, kruskal-wallis and Spearman correlation, at a significance level of 5%. Association of gametocytes with ethnicity, parasitemia and asexual stages was found. Knowledge about the biology of gametocytes could give guidelines for implementing control measures that reduce malaria figures in different endemic regions
