Item Fluorescencia con verde de indocianina una alternativa de apoyo para la especialidad de cirugía general: Revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Serna Salcedo, Isabella; Posada Erira, Sury Giselle; Olaya Chavez, Liseth Vanessa; Orejuela Vaquero, Diana MileyIntroduction: Indocyanine green has been seen as an effective and reliable tool, to improve the accessibility of the surgical site, identification of difficult to access anatomical structures and wide vision for the surgeon, being so the ICG has achieved great advantages and benefits in reducing surgical complications. Objective: To identify the main benefits of the use of indocyanine green fluorescence in general surgery. Materials and methods: The present bibliographic review was carried out by means of a search of articles in databases such as: Elsevier (12), Google Scholar (10), Pubmed (6), Dialnet (6), Oxford Academic (5), Springer (11). Results: ICG is a stain that is injected intravenously into the patient during surgery. It contains a sodium iodide molecule, which emits a fluorescence wave by means of an infrared camera, thus identifying the structures that need to be visualized and reducing surgical complications, such as re-surgery, hospital stay and surgical time, among others. Conclusions: the ICG can be considered as a tool to help reinforce patient safety and improve the surgeon's confidence in the surgical act, since the ICG is a useful instrument to identify structures that are not very visible or difficult to identify with the naked eye
