This method is essential for individuals who are unable to ingest food orally due to various medical conditions. Proper care of the gastrostomy is crucial to prevent infections and ensure its correct functioning. Adequate gastrostomy care not only improves the patient’s quality of life but also helps prevent serious complications. It is important to maintain care guidelines and constant monitoring. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a nursing intervention for the prevention of infection associated with gastrostomy care. Methodology: Analytical quasi-experimental study. Population:27 nurses from a medium- and high-complexity clinic in the city of Cali. Inclusion Criteria: People over 18 years of age; individuals who care for patients with gastrostomies; individuals with more than four months of experience in ostomy care; individuals who agree to participate in the study and sign the informed consent. Exclusion Criteria: Individuals on medical leave at the time of data collection; workers with an ostomy. Instrument: Questionnaire based on the gastrostomy management protocol of the participating institution, validated by experts.
