Item Análisis de costos en la esterilización a vapor de ropa quirúrgica en una clínica privada en Cali, 2024(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Velasco Hurtado, Luz Karime; Zuleta Acevedo, Yoselin Andrea; Salas Fierro, Angy Tatiana; López López, María Nela (Directora)Introduction: Traditionally, the steam sterilization method (steam autoclave) has been considered the most effective, cost-effective, and quickest method; in addition, sterilization times are short and eliminate all toxic residues; therefore, its operability is effective, reliable, easy to monitor and safe. Objective: To analyze the costs in the process of steam sterilization of a surgical linen package in a private health institution (HI) in the city of Cali in the year 2024. Materials and methods: A quantitative study with a non-experimental design. Data were collected on the cycles and costs associated with the sterilization process of a surgical linen package and an instrumentation tray, using instruments specifically designed to carry out this study. Results: By applying the ABC costing system, it was determined that the cost of sterilizing a package of linen in a BAUMER autoclave is COP$72,907 per loading cycle, while the cost of sterilizing a tray of instruments is COP$71,811, also per loading cycle. Conclusions: The use of the ABC costing system was effective in accurately identifying the costs associated with the steam sterilization process in the healthcare institution, enabling more efficient resource management. Although the costing provided an approximation of the actual costs, it is crucial to continue evaluating and adjusting costs according to the specific needs of the clinic to ensure optimal financial and operational management.
