These caregivers are obliged to fulfill this role, often without adequate tools to cope with the physical and emotional burdens of caregiving or without receiving professional training to cope with this work. The changes in the daily life of the institutionalized family member allow long-distance caregivers to find a balance between the care of their loved one and their own well-being, contributing directly to their quality of life and individual development, especially in vital areas related to affection, participation, identity and freedom.
