Item Desórdenes temporomandibulares en adultos asociados con alteraciones psicosociales. Revisión sistemática(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Rodriguez Balanta, Michelle; Sanchez Chaves, Laura Isabel; Calero Clavijo, Isabel (Directora)The temporomandibular system is made up of bone, muscle and ligamentous tissue, allowing movement functions and protecting the joint from friction with the articular disc. When an alteration occurs in this system, a temporomandibular disorder (TMD) manifests itself. Its etiology is multifactorial and one of these factors, classified as perpetuators, are psychosocial disorders (APS), which have been found to be related to TMD and APS in adults. Objective: To carry out a systematic narrative review according to the PRISMA standards, about TMD in adults related to APS. Methods: An electronic search was carried out in the Mesh search engine using the keywords, with a result of 632 articles, a thorough selection of the Pubmed, PMC, Scielo, Medigraphic and ResearchGate databases was made, and articles were organized in the program Excel for the application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, ending with a complete analysis of 41 articles and 17 in the synthesis that will answer the problem question. Results: A close relationship between the TMD and the APS was demonstrated, showing a great variety in the TMD but common APS, such as bruxism, stress, anxiety, depression, and others. Discussion: Various APS were revealed in the studies, however, depression, anxiety and stress were the most frequent and present in all of them. Differences were found between the prevalence in the male and female population, the second being the one with the highest rate of APS that influenced the TMD. Conclusion: The female population has a higher prevalence in TMD, and although anxiety and depression were frequent in the studies analyzed, a greater relationship with the presence of stress has been found.
