Item Representaciones sociales sobre la discapacidad de personas integrantes de comunidades indígenas en contexto de ciudad en Santiago de Cali(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2020) Rivera Navia, Karen Nathalia; Rodríguez Yanguatin, Angie Carolina; Anacona Muñoz, AdrianaIndigenous communities throughout history have been permeated by Western culture, however, it is possible to analyze a process of struggle and resistance for the vindication of their culture, therefore, this research aims to analyze the social representations of indigenous communities in the context of city in Santiago de Cali in the context of disability, understood as a concept that has been crossed by various visions and interventions charged with a rehabilitative view that could degrade the social and cultural construction of these communities. This research was intended to be approached from an ethnographic methodology but was restricted by the emergency situation that was not foreseen. Thus, the pandemic generated by the COVID-19 during the year 2020 restricts the possibility of community or collective meetings, because, from international instances, health policies are established within the framework of social distancing, which caused this research to become virtual, thus limiting the planned objectives. This research work is developed from a phenomenological approach that will allow to discuss the phenomenon of disability in these communities, in turn, a theoretical approach that allows to recognize that the subjects can give account of their own social representation associated with their own cultural context and health, now, considering that they are indigenous communities settled in a city context, it becomes necessary, to put in question, The gaps of inequality and social problems that not only caused the pandemic, but have become evident over time, even the organizations responsible for the good life of communities fail to respond to these social problems, it is therefore appropriate to link it to the exercise of research professional in Social Work to forge recognition of social representations of indigenous communities
