    For the World Health Organization (WHO), obesity is defined as an abnormal or excessive accumulation of fat that harms health. The body mass index (BMI) is used to measure obesity in a simple way. Among the various complications and risk factors that this generates are metabolic, cardiovascular diseases and different types of cancer. The lifestyle, nutrition, social determinants are predisposing factors to develop this disease. Health professionals are responsible for interventions in the treatment of obesity in terms of food, physical activity, pharmacotherapy and surgery.
